I am 21, asian, and have had bad acne since middle school. It started on my forehead but is mostly on my neck and back now. Recently, the bumps have began to disappear but the redness still remains. I am not sure if this is a scar or maybe a deep, different type of acne? I am not quite sure if I should continue to use my current medication because I believe it is for acne, and not scars. If anyone knows, please tell me what you think it is and what you would suggest I do to treat it. Thanks!
Well you do have PIH, which is post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. That isn't considered scarring, as it will fade with time or with the use of hydroquinone/retinoids or v-beam.
Acne scarring is considered the actual craters, pits, etc. You may have that, I can't really tell by your pictures.
