I am booked in for a consultation and then Recell in September 2012 with Dr. Ahmed Khan, I have been following the recell stories and although it seems good I am still having some doubt.
I have moderate scarring in my face, moderate scarring on my body. So I have a lot of shallow scars, there isn't a part in my face that doesn't have a scar with overal a few deeper ice pick scars, and one or two rolling scars. I have tried TCA and dermarolling with some result in the overal complexion.
The treatment will only be for the scars on my face, I will post some pictures later on.
My doubt is:
I have no experience with Dr. Khan or Harley street Skin Clinic and don't know his experience.
Although the results I gave seen are amazing and the best I have seen, they come from a handfull of people on this forum.
The treatment isn't offered world wide yet, is there a reason for this?
I can amagine the downtime could be reduced with stemcells and as a dressing it could work for the healing. I am not expecting a miracle cure, I am only hoping this is the best treatment there is available today.
I am wondering what your thought's are on this treatment. There are people here with more experience and who have done more research then me.
Am I wasting all my money and hope travelling to England for nothing? or am I trying something that could work?
What is your opinion?
By all means, if it's a consultation then it's fairly low stake and seems like a sensible course of action. Just remember that what works for one person might not for another. Though Dr Khan has produced some truly amazing results in his time, my question would be how long lasting are they?
You will be spending a lot of money.
Good luck.

I have booked a consultation with the option of having Recell procedure the next day. Yes it is a lot of money.
I have private health insurance but haven't considered approaching them regarding treatment. It may be worth it, nothing to lose after all. Let us know if you do get it covered!
As long as you don't hint that it's purely for cosmetic reasons and that it is having a psychological impact on you (perhaps have some 'proof') etc...
Edit: I know it's never for merely cosmetic reasons but that's how they might interpret it. You need a strong case.
Yes I was thinking about backing it up with my medical report, because I have been seeing a psychologist for (social) anxiety and depression in the past. I have a appointment in May with a psychologist and will be sure to ask him.
The scarring in my face isn't that bad anymore and so also the stress and anxiety is less, I have already used dermarolling and TCA to get the scarring more to the surface. I also have moderate scarring on my body so I might ask for a test on those scars just to see if it has effect.
You could also give it a try and start by seeing a dermatologist for scar treatment, that backs up that treatment has been tried with some effect and that Recell and laser is now necessary. Ask the health insurence for specialised medical care abroad, with Dr. Khan being a well known specialist in scar treatment. Then maybe a psychologist that can support you with a letter stating that you are suffering from emotional problems and depression because of scarring. That is has had great impact on your quality of life. (which is true with in most cases) Another smart move is to go for a expensive health insurence for a year and switch back after treatment.
Still it's on the health insurence company to pay, it would be great if it had become a more worldwide known treatment, as far as I know it has been FDA approved for testing.
Pricing is subjective but I agree about his staff. They are not doing him any favours. I sent him a PM months ago about it when I was inquiring about treatment but he chose to ignore it so....I went elsewhere. Dr Khan on the otherhand was very informative and knowledgable. Maybe just a "Harley street" syndrome.
Don't EVER see Dr. Aamer Khan. His smartxide laser has left me with permanent post-inflammatory pigmentation. He has also been found guilty of misconduct by the General Medical Council recently.
What utter RUBBISH. He's the BEST doctor I've ever seen, I have had three lots of smartxide with him and my acne scars are hardly visible. Horses for courses and not everything works for everybody as we all well know.
This really makes me mad, Dr Khan is the BEST doctor at removing scarring. I've had three smartxides and my scarring is barely visible.
are you allright my friend i went for a consulation with him one of the worst doctors ever over inflated prices and his wife knows nothing about skin care

how do you know he is best in the UK have you had treatment with him ?
If you want the best and are willing to spend money in the UK, go and see Dr Chu, there is no one better in the UK
Many treatments with him, consults with others like Dr Khan, if you don't want to waste your time and money looking around (like i and many have done before) just get on and see Dr Chu
I don't think he will be treating much longer, he must be due to retire soon
