What To Do After Accutane?

I just finished my fourth month of accutane a week-ish ago(40mg first month, 80mg starting 2nd month and continuing). My face is pretty smooth to the touch, but to the eyes its still hideous. I have a lot red dots (I guess hyperpigmentation), and some roughness. I'm now starting my fifth month. I'm just wondering whether or not the redness will subside at all in my 5th and 6th month? I haven't had a pimple in weeks and I haven't dealth with cysts since month 2.

With a litle concealer and foundation my face looks flawless, but I want to be able to not wear the crap.

My derm mentioned tazorac after accutane and told me that I had to wait a few months before I can start doing peels and other such procedures. I'm just worried that with an acne topical that I might have an adverse reaction and might take a few steps back. I don't want to deal with an IB or such nonsense.

Are there any gentle skin treatments I can start doing while I'm still on accutane?

Red marks go away on their own and can take a few months to a few years. You can speed up the healing by keeping the red marks moisturized (with vaseline) so they heal a lot faster.

I've had red marks go away completely on their own without the use of any treatment though...I just left it alone. Some people think they have red marks for 10 years or whatever but, in reality they still get acne and new acne leaves more redmarks and they go through a process of old red marks fading and getting new redmarks. If you stay acne-free permanently, you red marks WILL fade.

I've had red marks on my face for 5 years but that's only because I have never been acne-free for longer than 3 months. I had A LOT of red marks on my back, then became acne free and eventually the red marks were able to fade by themselves.

So don't worry too much about red marks

Update [just arrived home and washed makeup off] - Here are photos of my skin (I apologize for the poor quality of my phone's camera >.<).:

I also have a few indented scars. Although they are small, they bother me:

I did 7 months of accutane and I have bad red marks on both sides of my face. Been off accutane for 2 weeks and my derm told me to start differin 1 month post-tane.

Nothing you can do with red marks but wait.... Lavender is supposed to help and Manuka Honey is also another solid pick up.

Good luck, to the both of us.

Why is it that I have to wait a few months to have chemical peels and stuff? Is it because my skin is "weaker"?

your skin need to recover from the accutane, so having chemical peels would only makes it worse. Thats why you have to wait.
