How is it working on the raised scars?

I have them on my back, and keeping on the duct tape would be difficult IMO. Especially with my warehouse job where i have to constantly lift up my arms to get something from above me. I tried the silicone sheets but that was a pain in the ass.

O my god. MY skin would not be able to tolerate this.

Interesting, so I can see in theory why it would work for hypertrophic scars, because you are constantly applying pressure on the scar (its the whole theory behind the clinically proven silicone sheets that pretty much do the same), but I don't see how it would fill in an indented scar by using this method? I'm not saying I doubt what you say, but I just don't understand why and how it would work for indents. How old are your indented scars?

I can't say that it will erase the scar, but I am noticing improvement. I am very early into this experiment- a little over a month. the hypertrophic scar on my nose has flattened some, and it looks to me like it's shrinking in size. Like the scar tissue itself is dying off, also it went from a red color to a white color. I've had this scar for more than 10 years now. I don't have any warts but I did leave the duck tape wrapped around the base of my small finger for a week or so to see how my skin would respond. The skin was reddish when I removed the tape. It was very dry the next day and it peeled for a week or so, and now it looks normal. I don't know if silicone treatments do this, and I've never heard of silicone sheeting removing warts. So well, hey, I don't mind being a guinea pig. I'm not treating large areas. I haven't experience any bad effects yet.

The method is simple. Cut off a piece of duct tape large enough to completely cover the scar and leave it on, switch it out after taking a shower, clean the area before reapplication. If it's in an area where you can not keep it on all the time, do this just before bed and remove it in the morning. Do what I am doing. Treat a small scar first, dont cover your self up in this stuff. See what happens.

Will it make the scar completely disappear. Don't know yet. Maybe. I know a few long term scars I had for many years disapeared. I used to have a long vertical scarline on my stomach, caused by broken tree branch scrape when falling out of a tree as a child. That scar stayed with me until I was in my mid 20's, it's gone. It was about 8 or 9 inches long. I also had a scar in the bridge of my nose that I treated with daily applications of retin a for many years and it resolved itself.

I just heard about using duct tape on warts from my doctor, and thought I'd check the net.

A little confused one thing though...you say to leave it on until after you shower, then clean the area before reapplying...

Why not just remove the duct tape before the shower and clean while showering?

Edit: also, my original search was to find out if duct tape adhesive had salicylic acid in it, which seems to be the active ingredient in both acne and wart treatment, and it led me here...anybody know if that's the case?

Hi there. I googled, duct tape for stretchmarks and this group was the first thing that popped up. I wanted to let Mr. Davis know that I personally have used regular silver duct tape on my 12 year old sons foot. He had 5 planter warts pop up on his right foot. I taped his foot every night for about a month and they rose up to the surface to where they were basically pulled up out of the skin. They are now completely gone, with no scarring or returns. It's been about 8 months. I tried duct tape because I too had read it on a homeopath remedy website, and thought it sounded a lot less painful than having them surgically removed from his foot. That would have been the next step but the duct tape treatment worked amazingly. After 2 Weeks of doing the duct taping of his foot, the skin did become tender, to where he he needed to takes his morning showers with the tape still on in order to help loosen it from his skin. He would then leave it off all day, until bedtime when I taped over the wart again and left it over night. Because the duct tape worked so well, I wondered if it could also rejuvenate wrinkles and stretchmarks, as I sit here typing this out with a strip of duct tape across my forehead wrinkles, and another test sample of duct tape on my hip over my stretchmark. Lol. If I see any results as impressive as the one on my sons foot, I shall let you all know } thank you

I had a wart on my finger, (ew, I know.)

My father told me to put duct tape on it. It does indeed starve it from oxygen, it basically dries it out, kills it. I'm going to try this on one of my scars. I just need duct tape >.>

Does regular tape have salicytic acid on it? No. Why would tape have salicytic acid on it for godsake? That would affect the adhesive properties of the tape. It would probably also damage the heck out of everything you put the duct tape on too. And before you ask, there's also no benzoyl peroxide used in making duct tape either.

Did anyone actually see any results from using Duct tape? I only have few Boxcar Scars and Icepick Scars, they have gotten much better since I have left them alone, but I am now getting increasingly impatient, OCD is kicking in badly and I am needing to try something new to shift them quicker. I also suffer from what I am sure is Post Inflammatory Erythema.

I am looking at potentially purchasing Silicone Sheets but reviews are extremely mixed for indented scars.

There is a medically safe product that does the same thing called Scar Away. They have silicone patches and a clear gel that you can roll on for areas like faces where you don't want to have a band-aid looking thing on all the time. I'm not affiliated with them, but I have been using their products myself and have been impressed. I also saw my friends c section scar almost disappear after 8 weeks, I was shocked.

Silicone gel works, but when applying it, you need to rub it in for several minutes.

i have acne scars on face but recently i met with a bike accident ..which created a bad wound in my leg of approx 1cmx1cm its too much raised and thick like keloid...my parent arent allowing me for any cosmetic surgery as its on my leg so no one notices it...but in in front of my foot so it bothers me too much...i applied silicon gel from 1 month regularely and seen no differnce in scar...in fact it became more raised and thick

how u suggest correct way to apply silicon gel

Apply it, then rub it intothe skin for 2-3 minutes.
