I will be getting my very first laser procedure for acne scars on my cheeks on the 19th and I am a bit nervous. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this particular laser. What is the downtime like (they told me the first day really and not more than a few days I will notice a lot of redness and puffiness). I have very minor scarring which had once been severe but over the years it has improved (due to lactic acid peels) and so I am now left with scars that look like tiny little holes in my skin that easily cover up with makeup.
None of my scars are particular deep and I have very minor discoloration as well (compared to a few years ago when my face was a red blotchy mess). My laser specialist said it will take two hours to do my whole face and I should notice about 60 to 70 percent improvement. However is this improvement immediately after this procedure or will it take a few weeks or months to notice? She also said I could wear makeup immediately afterwards.
I'm moreso nervous about the redness as I am going on vacation a week after this procedure and don't want my face looking like a red blotchy mess. I'm hoping others have had an experience with this type of laser so I know what to expect.
you will be red after the treatment. as i understand it, the palomar lux 1540 penetrates deeper than the fraxel, but not as deep as the fraxel 2 (a study done by fraxel showed that it did penetrate about 70% as deep as fraxel 2), so for your case i think the laser is a good one. as for how long redness will last, well, you will definetely have flaking and peel after a few days... you should be alright in a week but you still might be a bit red. if you are worried, you should try to schedule after the vacation.

What's the longest my face might stay red for? Will making sure I keep it bare and moisturized help it stay calm?
I just had the fractional laser on Friday and it's still red today (Sunday). I have lines along my face and there are spots where my skin feels dry and scaley. I'm hoping it starts to go away soon.
As for the fractional laser...so glad I did it. I see a difference and scars have disappeared. Two more treatments and I hope the scars are gone and my skin completely smooth.
I've had it done on rather low setting, the palomar. It did not make my scar worse, downtime was good, pain was tolerable, everything was great except that there doesn't seem to be much improvement on the scars. But I've only had it done twice so maybe its too early to tell
