So I'm currently using Adapalene and Clydamycin/BP gel to treat my acne. After cleansing (which I use Olay Foaming Cleanser for Sensitive Skin) and waiting 15 minutes, I put on the BP. 15 minutes after that I put on moisturizer (this time I tried Cetpahil Daily Facial Moisturizer) and it burned really badly and made my face extremely red. This is my third moisturizer I've tried and I'm sick of this happening! Am I doing it wrong? Should I use moisturizer before the BP or would that just block up the medicine from sinking in? Someone please give me some advice because I simply cannot keep doing this to myself anymore!
Thank you.
You definitely want to apply BP first, then moisturizer. Treatment won't penetrate pores as well. And you definitely do not want to skip the moisturizer step...this is what helps keep your skin in balance. You're following the Reg steps correctly but with different products so hard to judge what is going wrong...are you washing your face in between treatments? How often do you treat your face? Anything else irritating? What strength is the BP treatment? 2.5%??
Hello, I just want to share an article which I find useful in treating acne the natural way. This has been a problem to any of us but I am hoping that we can overcome this acne. You can read it here: http://bit.ly/1oTPdao. Hope it helps!
What moisturizers have you tried?
I personally love...
For Daytime:
Clinique dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel - a bit pricey but lightweight and easy to apply.
Cerave Moisturizing Lotion - lightweight and absorbs very well on the skin
For Nighttime:
Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion/Cream - both are very thick and takes a long time to absorb into the skin but you wake up to soft skin
Acne.org Moisturizing - very nourishing when used at night and has never caused any breakouts.
My favorite moisturizers, serums, oil, and cremes :
-Moisturizer: Nature's Pearl Muscadine 20 Ultra Rich Lotion
-Serum: Vitamin C serum
-Serum: Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Serum
-Creme: Purebess Snail School Recovery Gel Cream
Just letting you know, the best facial moisturizer I have found so far is the Olay Moisturizing lotion for Sensitive skin. It comes in like a Pink Box.

So I've been on the regimen for a while and have done quite the trial and error of moisturizers. I didn't bother buying dans because in the past I did not like it one bit but I must say it didn't make me break out so this time is quite a journey. I first started out with xetaphil lotion and it didn't make me break out but it made me feel greasy and gross so I went on the hunt for a new one. I then came to alba botanica aloe and green tea moisturizer and I must say its the best one I've found so far. It didn't completely eliminate he flakes and that's why I was still on the search. I then wanted to try cerave lotion because of the reviews and I loved it! Texture, consistency, hydration everything was perfect I was like finally the moisturizer for me! Until it gave me horrible breakouts on places I never usually breakout. I was bummed because of how great it was. So then I bought the olay complete all day moisturizer with spf 15 and I'll have to admit when I put that stuff on I didn't like it one bit. I didn't really give it a chance but anyways I figured maybe it wasn't the cerave that was breaking me out so I tried it again sure enough a few hours later a had 3 new zits on my chin like big ones. I forgot that I had neutrogena oil free moisturizer for combination skin which Dan recommends so I out that on last night and it's pretty good so far. I might just go back to alba botanica tho that's seemed to be the best one for my skin at least.
Make sure you're not using applying too much BP. It can be very irritating if you use more than you need to. Always start with a lighter application and then if you need to work your way up to a more gradual amount. Cetaphil seems to be a popular brand of moisturizer but I use Cerave moisturizing lotion and I have found it work well on my face by trial and error. Mind you, I've tried a lot of different store bought products.
With your acne medication, I assume it's prescribed by your doctor? If so, please head back and consult before it damages your skin even more. As someone who have been on medications like this, I've learnt to be gentle and patient. So, if I will you, I'd put my moisture on first then a thin layer of the medication on to affected areas. Or, use the medication every second night and gradually build up the toleracne.
All the best,
Scarredemon
