Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum, been reading it for a while. It's a great resource!
I've had moderate level acne since I was 11 now 28 and it's still going.
Never found anything that worked amazingly, till now! Started using quinoderm brand BP started with 5% then went up to 10% (probably didn't give the 5% long enough to kick in) so did 10% the last 1 month. Noticed wrinkles (probably skin hydration related) but all the same am now back on the 5% and am waiting for a 2.5% acne.org tube to come from USA. The acne has definitely improved! Though unfortunately keep getting setbacks from moisturiser related breakouts!
I'd rather try and find a UK moisturiser that works, to avoid the expensive US to UK purchases of the acne.org one.
I've searched on the topic of moisturisers stinging on the forum before but wondered if there was anything new / strong feelings for any specific UK moisturisers that don't sting after BP application. I am being good and waiting 15 mins for BP to dry before moisturising.
I tried a La Roche Posay one which broke me out (I'd never bought any of their products before but thought the price tag might mean it would be good , sadly mistaken!)
Bought cetaphil lotion but for me even if I use a small amount doesn't seem to soak in 100% and when that happens I feel my skin might break out so don't want to risk it (might try it again if no alternative)
So am now using the simple hydrating light moisturiser which is light and absorbs really well just not sure it's moisturising enough AND skin stings for about 30-45mins post application.
So my questions are:
Has anyone found any amazing UK moisturisers that aren't too heavy, but moisturise WELL and don't break you out? Yes I want the world on a stick I know!
I might try and find some jojoba oil and if all else fails I'll pay the shipping and order Dan's one from the USA. Have any UK people a good UK jojoba oil? If so what brand please?
It's a shame there's no easily available 2.5% on sale in UK pharmacies / Boots! The only 2.5% one I can see is Duac (BP with clindamycin) which I might try and get from my GP as it'd be cheaper to pay for a prescription than Dan's BP. Is anyone a fan of Duac??? Or has anyone found any 2.5% over the counter BP in the UK?
Apologies for the million and one questions! Would really appreciate any advice you guys have!
Thank you
Duac is actually 5%
as for your dryness - what cleanser are you using? you would be surprised at how much cleanser-caused dryness is blamed on BP. "water optional" non foaming cleansers are best - cetaphil gentle skin cleaser, avene extremely gentle (to name a couple - most 'dermatological skincare brands do them, think la roche posay, bioderma)
Eucerin do loads of really good non comedogenic moisturizers - if you email them on their website outlining your problem they'll send you a few samples.

Thanks for the advice XXYY, will definitely email eucerin as wanted to try their moisturisers but as they're £10 a bottle for not a massive amount I was a bit hesitant (as already wasted my money on other moisturisers), so the samples idea is fab, thanks!
Sorry I got my facts mixed up, or names rather, I was thinking of asking my GP for Epiduo (2.5% BP and 0.1% adapalene) not Duac. I got myself confused as I was looking up all the available BPs to UK patients in the BNF - have you had any experience with epiduo?
I've used the cetaphil gentle skin cleanser but didn't really feel it gave my skin a proper clean (sounds silly I know) maybe I'm used to that bad tight feeling after face washing! I might give cetaphil a go again once my current cleanser finishes. I've been using the Olay gentle cleanser ( http://www.boots.com/en/Olay-Gentle-Cleansers-Refreshing-Face-Wash-150ml_956145/ ) for a couple of days, it seems okay. I see what you mean though about cleansers and dryness though! Really hoping Dan's lower strength BP will help with decreasing dryness a bit.
Also, how many days on average does the stuff take to get to the UK from America? I used amazon.com rather than acne.org direct. Stayed under the £15 safe limit for customs so hopefully won't get any nasty surprises. Really tempted to try a bigger delivery as some people are saying they don't get hit with charges somehow.

Ive done it a few times (cant believe they havent clicked on!!) and the last time they apologized that they didnt have the sample sizes for the products they reccomended me and sent me two full sized of the reccomended moisturizers instead!!! but even the sample sizes are like mini bottles and not just a flimsy sachet.
I understand the icky feeling with cetaphil but you do get used to it. I wouldnt go near a foaming cleanser now because it made such a huge difference in reducing the dryness for me. Unless you wear makeup you dont need to cleanse with anything but water (unpopular opinion on this forum)
havent tried epiduo but its supposed to be really harsh (think worse than 10% bp) although it does eventually give good results. Acne.org orders from amazon take about 10 days for me, but it is getting to that time of the year (not ready to say the C word yet its only november). If youre under limit (i always thought it was £18) you'll be fine but ive made 2 big orders and one of them was hit with charges so i sent it back not worth the extra £30
Hi, I'm new to this forum too and am in exactly the same boat as you.
The only BP I could find was the quinoderm10 cream which I'm reluctantly using until my acne.org BP arrives - hope it doesn't take too long!
I'm using the Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser. I've only been on the regimen for about a week but so far I think those products are working well. I get what you mean about the cleanser not feeling like it really cleanses, but I wore makeup yesterday and it seemed to remove that fine! The moisturiser doesn't fully soak in with me either but it does quite a good job with dry, flaky skin so I'm going to carry on using it.
As for Jojoba oil, they sell it in Holland & Barrett but I've just found a slightly better value one on Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004RGMMWW/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1384078412&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX110_SY165
I've literally just ordered this so hopefully my dry skin will be eased in a few days!
Hi guys,
I have to say I am a total cetaphil convert! I've started using their cleanser and moisturiser (lotion) morning and evening with my BP, and i have not once had that tight feeling after washing my face. The cetaphil moisturiser hasn't broken me out but it's cured my dry flaky skin. Just got my acne.org 2.5% BP today so hoping that coming off the 5% BP in quinoderm onto 2,5% won't break me out!
Thanks for the advice guys
My acne.org BP arrived a few days ago and since I've been using it I have broken out a bit :/ I'm hoping this is just temporary! I think I prefer it to the quinoderm though, I find it a lot less drying and irritating.
The jojoba oil has worked a treat with my dryness too
Hope you're getting along with it well
