After 5 years of trying many antibiotics and topical antibiotics from my GP trying to rid my adult acne, I have never seen results like this before and only after 13 days!

I ALSO STOPPED TAKING MY TETRALYSAL AFTER A COUPLE DAYS ON THE REGIMEN as I wanted to quit long term antibiotics and I have had NO SKIN FLARE UP AT ALL.

As I am in the UK I have sourced my own products. The moisturiser was the biggest problem for me as I get spots using most moisturisers. My Nan brought me a spare bottle of hers when my skin was really dry in the first week and I haven't looked back!!!!!!!

I have used:

aClean and Clear Refreshing Deep Cleansing Wash

aPanOxyl Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Cream (I used 5% as I had some stubborn huge nodules and I have had 2.5% prescribed and it did nothing for me. PanOxyl is availabe in 2.5%. Do not use 5% unless you have used allsorts on your skin before or you are prepared for EXTREME DRY SKIN)

aOil of Olay Beauty Fluid Moisturiser

I will be cutting down to using the BP once a day as most of my spots have gone and I haven't had any new ones.

Hopefully in another few weeks the slight scarring will be reduced further!!!!!!!!!!

What makes you say that Ph-rank? It seems that views on Panoxyl are very mixed. I haven't used it myself as I went straight for the Acne.org BP.

Thats a great post mentalmango. I will point any UK users towards it that are looking to start on a regimen based on products we can purchase here.

Hey guys, it's been almost 2 weeks since I started the regimen. I'm using Clearasil Cleanser to wash my face in the morning and in the evening. Although I've got an oily skin, I feel like it's making my skin very dry. Is this normal or are there better cleansers that might help the regimen get the best results?

Hey guys,

So, yesterday I went out and started using the Benzoyl Peroxide gel I'd seen a lot of people were using in the regime.

I grabbed myself a tube of PanOxyl Aquagel 5% from the local pharmacy, it was only A3.10 - which is pretty cheap I think.

I know a lot of people using this have said it really dries your skin out, and yeah, it does a little - however, I've found that literally after a day my skin is looking so much clearer and the spots I did have are totally dried up! I won't be using this every day - as I feel that once it's dried up my current spots, there won't be a lot of need to dry my face out every night. I'm thinking of starting to use it once every 3rd day morning and evening. Simply to just ease my skin into it a little more than just blasting it every single day. Hopefully, this will keep my skin a lot less oily (hopefully, spot free) without over drying it!

I'm also using Simple products, their cleansing gel is pretty much the only thing that doesn't freak my skin out. As for moisturiser, I'm using something a little more pricey - Dior Hydraction - Deep Hydration Sorbet Gel. It's super light and you only really need two small pumps to cover your whole face! So it's worth the money.

I've had a god awful time with my skin since I was about 15, and I'm now 23! So thank god I found this website - I was a little unsure about the Benzoyl Peroxide at first but really, I reccommend just giving it a shot for those of you who are a little dubious. It's definitely worth it!

Why don't you use Panoxyl Aquagel 2,5%. It is just as effective as the 10% but WAY more gentle for your skin.

I didn't find the 2,5% Panoxyl at Wal-Mart but a lot of Pharmacies have it.

Don't suppose anyone has found a good SPF available in UK? Don't know what to use for this, and am currently just avoiding any sun we get! They all seem to have the dreaded avobenzone in them and I'm scared it will wreck my progress as I'm only 2 weeks in.

Hey there guys I have been using Panoxyl 5% for about a month then I moved to the 2.5%. I have been experiencing the dryness / flakiness that many have described but thats due to me not using a suitable moisturiser.

Although people have been knocking it, it has defintely helped my skin.

Interesting story: I had moderate acne and the first time I used the 5% Panoxyl, all the excess oil came to the surface of my face and all the spots started to peel. Rather disgusting but in a couple of days I hadn't seen my skin that good in years.

I just ordered Dan's entire range so I'll give my verdict after I've used it for a while.

I use Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturiser which is really great because it stops my skin from drying out but isn't greasy (presumably because it's oil-free). Also, because it's in the Visibly Clear range it's designed for people with skin problems. Unfortunately it can be a tad expensive but I think it's worth it.

On the moisturiser front, I have been using Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Face Wash & Mask for about 18 months now. It's also a very good product because it can be used as both a face wash and a deep cleansing mask. Unfortunately it's gradually getting more expensive whilst the Clean & Clear range remains quite well priced.

I'm considering switching to Clean & Clear, could anyone recommend a particular one? I've noticed two that are probably useful for acne prone skin:

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash Sensitive Skin

&

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cleansing Wash

any recommendations?

Does anyone know where one can get PanOxyl in the UK? I actually use that right now but I got my supply from Canada, and havn't been able to find it yet, here in London.

My daily (day and night) regimen is as follows:

1) Wash face lightly with Garnier PureActive face wash

2) Wait for face to dry and then wipe face with Garnier PureActive toner lightly

3) Wait till face dries.

4) Take equal parts of 5% PanOxyl BP gel and Nivea AquaSensation day cream. Mix them in a container (i just use the cover of the Nivea pot) and apply all over face.

I find this works really well because the BP mixed with the moisturiser all gets absorbed in together and somehow works amazingly for me.

Once it dries you can wear make up on top as normal.

Try the BodyShop Tea Trea Oil moisturiser...it works great at keeping oily skin at bay! I use that during the day under my makeup and it makes a huge difference.

That whole line is designed to clear up acne and it really does help a lot

I have never used it myself, but isn't it generally available in any chemist?

Any online UK pharmacy sells it.

I tried looking at boots, I asked the pharmacist there...he said they only had something called 'quinoderm' that contained BP...i used it and it made my really mild skin flare up. Terrible product.

I've never had any trouble getting Panoxyl Aquagel 2.5 (Benzoyl Peroxide) from Boots, Superdrug, or even my Uni's pharmacy. The price is around A4 however you can also get it on prescription.

Hey Ellie,

You didn't metion if you wore make up but the 'bare essentials' mineral make up has an SPF in it (Maybe about 20!) I've been using pan oxyl 2.5% for about 8 months and been desperate to find a make up that's good for my skin and something with an SPF and seriously the mineral stuff is amazing. Bit pricey but totally worth it. (48 for a starter pack but you get everything !!) You can go and get a demo at different beauty salons or somewhere like Debenhams (If you don't mind sitting in public!) It doesn't feel to heavy and gives really good coverage when you do get a break out. I've tried a Simple sunblock before and it was so greasy. The mineral make-up is totally worth having a look at..

Does anyone know if 'OXY on the spot' is any good in comparison with Panoxyl 2.5%? They're both 2.5% BP but Panoxyl contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is meant to aggravate your skin so i just avoided it...

I just got a really cheap sample of the simple spotless pen, and I think it's fantastic!

not good on cysts but on tiny inflamed spots it kicks them to the curb.

Weaning myself off retin-a and onto this now.

Been using the Johnsons baby wash in my sig for a few months now with no bad results. I find it a lot better than the top to toe stuff and you can get it in the pound shop. I'm now on the hunt for a moisturiser in the same shop.

I'm using E45 lotion which is really nice on my skin and doesn't look too oily. My best product that i have found so far though is 'Sainsbury's distilled witch hazel BPC' at 1.50 for a 200ml bottle. I use it as a cleanser before applying BP/Moisturiser and it's awesome. It takes off the dead flaky skin, removes all the dirt, and calms down the redness- My best find ever!

I am in love with Aquamol.

You can get a 500g tub on prescription aswell (7) and it'll last YEARS.

It does have Liquid Paraffin in, which I don't like, but for me I find it's the best moisturiser I've ever used and maybe the only one ever which doesn't sting when I apply it which is always a good sign!
