Do You Still Get Shaving Acne Bumps With Beard Trimmer?

So I've switched to a beard trimmer so I don't shave close to my skin. I don't get anymore ingrown or white pus zits anymore, but I'm still getting red razor bumps. I'm not even shaving that close (0.4 - 1mm range). So it's frustrating that I'm still getting these.

I'm using Philips Norelco 5100. It has great reviews on and seems like its decent quality. So I'm wondering if a change of trimmer is worth it. Any one else have the same problem until they switched or they find they have razor bumps regardless of trimmer?

When I first moved to electric I used my dads rotary.. And my god. My skin was on fire. The razor bumps were everywhere, it was literally just a massive rash all over my face.

In december I moved to a braun electric, and it's been fantastic. In certain areas if I go over a lot I may get a small rash, and I have actually had a couple of ingrown hairs, but overall it's been fantastic

everyone's skin is different, and it may take a while to find the right razor. Personally, rotary razors kill my skin.

The last 7 years of my life have been plagued with buying electric razors (Braun to Phillips to etc) with no luck. All bring me to razor burn and ingrown hairs within 2 months of purchasing a quality shaver. One day I took a chance a bought a Gillette fusion and some shaving cream, and taught myself how to shave with the grain, moisten the hairs, beard oil etc...

if if you ignore my advice to go manual or straight edge razor, use beard oil before your electric shave, it will make a massive difference.
