Irritation & Bumps After Shaving

I get what looks like acne/irritated skin over where I shave, don't really get acne elsewhere.

I used to use gillette fusion 5blade razor w/ gillette fusion proglide gel for sensitive skin, but after reading the acne.org guide to shaving I went out and picked up a gillette sensor excel and the clean & clear essential foaming facial clenser. Tried out the new stuff today after taking a hot shower and my skin feels more irritated and dry than it ever has. Any advice on products that wont leave me feeling and looking like I just scrubbed my face with sandpaper?

The fusion blades are the best you can get. Although for the shaving cream I find Edge shave gel to be ten times better than gillette. Make sure when you're done to rinse off the shave gel/cream completely (until your face is no longer slick), otherwise it can cause acne.

This is coming from a guy with a dark irish/italian beard that dulls most razors in a few days lol.

It's possible that you don't have acne, and the skin irritation is caused by something else. You could try Nivea Sensitive Shaving gel, which contains the active ingredient Piroctone Olamine. See, onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1468-2494.2010.00623.x/pdf
