Hi could someone tell me whats the best thing to use or get done for facial hair. My problem is I am a woman with upper lip hair and an uno brow. I have extremely sensitive spotty/ hormonal skin and I have tried VEET Face wax strips and they are bad and dont work. I am so embarrassed about it and I get strange looks from people which makes me avoid leaving the house. Its impossible to find out whats best and trying them all is very scary for me. Could some people highly reccoment and explain what definately works and whats most popular. I dont have a clue. thank you.Ps I dont recommend VEET face wax strips. thanks.
So glad you asked bc I have this same problem. I think it might be hormonal and I'm going to ask my dr tomorrow.
As I suggested to another poster, get one of those As Seen On TV personal trimmers for women. It is very gentle, and does NOT shave, just trims off the surface hairs so there are no ingrowns. I use it on my upper lip and it's perfect (and btw it has NEVER made the hair grow back thicker as people think). If it's just a few hairs, I just pluck them with eyebrow pluckers, same as between the eyes. After doing these things, you'd never know I ever had this problem.
I tired facial waxing strips too. Horrible! Let us know how things work and good luck!

Dermaplaning is the way to go! It's basically shaving with a straight edge razor-the results are amazing. Removes excess hair, peach fuzz, and dread skin. I have mine professionally done when I can. Otherwise I mentioned before Gillette Mach 3 works awesome for spot clean up.
It's funny that people still think hair will grow back thicker and darker if they shave it off. My Derm Dr. is a very bald man and he said if that was true he would of started shaving his head years ago! That made me giggle.
The As Seen on TV Trimmer I bought was either broke or didn't perform the way I thought it would. I would think if it did work I would most def try it over waxing for sure!

Do you use the Gillette Mach 3 on your face too? That would seem the easiest thing to do. Even though I know hair really doesn't grow back thicker, shaving my female face is scary to me since I hear so much "Never raise a razor to your face!" I'd love to hear if you really could long term though. I have thicker than I would like peach fuzz all over my back which I don't hesitate to shave off and that has never gotten worse. And I've always shaved my arms, bc I just can't stand woman hairy arms, and that's been fine. Ugh, just nervous about doing it on the face!
I have tried using Nair for your face and I got a very very bad chemical burn...prob bc I have acne, sensitive skin, anything. Bad try there.
Yep! I do it in the shower or right when I get out. Ever notice how some men have the nicest skin right after they shave. Or, how they never get wrinkles in the spots that most women do? This is just my assumption and nothing else...I believe it is because they shave daily. They are exfoliating by shaving. Totally just my opinion. My mother in law told as well about the shaving. In her culture it is completely normal for women to shave their faces. Sounds crazy-but like I mentioned before: Dermaplaning is really just glorified shaving. $$ If I can I prefer dermaplaning-when I can't this works in between appts.
I shave occasionally... haha! It works just fine. It's not even physically possible for hair to grow back thicker from shaving. It's an old wives tale. My skin looks amazing when I shave my (whole) face of the peach fuzz and everything else. My makeup looks better too. Also, Kris Jenner shaves her whole face every day lol! Another person who does it...

I used to shave my face all the time too lol unfortunately my skin didn't like it and I ended up with folliculitis which is irritating and not pretty. I stopped shaving about 2 months ago now and my skin looks sooo much better! Finally got rid of folliculitis and my acne itself seems to be going away! but it's probably temporary as my skin likes to trick me every so often, making me think I'm getting clear -_-
You're seriously lucky you can shave without any problems! I have a lot of fuzz on my face and because I'm dark haired but light skinned and the hairs are longer than normal it shows up! I hate it but I have tried threading, waxing and hair removal cream and they all give me bad reactions! Grr.

Wow, I really thought you would get stubbles I'm too afraid to irritate my skin as well though, and I also have the dark fuzz on semi light skin.
I wanted to try threading, did that cause irritation on your skin?

It starts to grow back stubbly in the sense that the hair is blunt on the tips but it doesn't come back any thicker. I tried threading but to be fair, it was a DIY job so I don't know if that had anything to do with it but my face broke out in small spots everywhere the day after. Same happens with waxing. I just leave the fuzz alone now and live with it. Maybe you won't have bad experiences with those methods though so give them a try
In Japan its very common for women to shave their face. I never noticed until my boyfriend pointed it out to me. Then when I was going grocery shopping etc. I suddenly started noticing facial shaving razors (for women) all over the place...and Japanese women are known for very nice skin. So, shaving your face could always work...but maybe try a razor made for this exact purpose...they are different than regular razors. I've started shaving my face, but haven't noticed much difference except for the fuzz is gone, but that's nice enough for the small effort ^^
It might not even be hormonal, I think most females get it. It could be genetic too, I have a french background and we're known to get more hair! It sucks. I just use hot wax, it's great for sensitive skin. I do my own waxing at home with a waxing pot. You could go somewhere and get it done professionally or look up on youtube how to use it.
I tried those veet waxing strips once, the kind you warm up in your hands right? It left a big red mark on my skin for 24 hours, it was like it had ripped the skin off!
I've tried IPL, it's a waste of money on the face (laser might be better? it's different to ipl).
Threading also works and amazing, gets every tiny hair. I was getting full face threading done at one point just cos it makes your skin look way smoother. It hurts a lot on the upper lip though and seemed to cause little bumps/cold sores? [Edited image out]whereas waxing is much better. Threading on the rest of the face is fine though.
This is something I don't understand. Any body part that I have shaved grows back more coarse and dark. Maybe it's not, but it appears to be? I have heard that this is a myth yet it's never been my experience that it's not true. Waxing on the other hand has not caused this because it's pulling deep from the root.
seriously...electrolysis. Its the only method which kills the hairs for good.
I have PCOS and despite being blonde have had some dark hairs on my face in places I dont want them...I was depressed and used to wax/pluck osessively. It makes you feel so un-feminine...once I started gatting electrolysis sessions I felt SO much abtter because the hairs dont come back. If you can afford it Id say do it, I dont regret a penny I spent to feel smooth and feminine again.
so then shaving DOES make it come back in coarser and thicker. I did many sessions of laser hair removal on my face and now just get a few strays. I tried electrolysis in the past but it was so painful and painstaking as every individual hair had to be shocked...how many sessions did it take you?
shaving makes the hairs feel courser because when you shave you leave blunt ends, its not that it grows in thicker it just feels that way.
I did maybe 10 30-minute sessions of electrolysis, but I found the best licensed person in the area. She explained that not all equipment is equal the newer machines are a lot less painful. I took advil before the session and it is a little painful but no more than plucking or waxing, to me it was worth it because the hairs are gone for good.
you have to research people in your are and make sure they are licensed and know what they are doing...my electrolysis lady is really great and she made me comfortable.

there are small red marks for a few days after electrolysis but they disappear. But my skin doesnt tend to scar, thank god.
Yeah it was many years ago that I tried electrolysis - I might again to clean up the remaining strays. Did it leave little bumps? I remember it did for me.

Was the electrolysis affordable? I'm considering getting it done.
It cost usually $ per minute or around there, so 30 mins=$30. Depending on the amount of hairs, it takes 5-10 sessions to clear the area. But like I said make sure the person who does it is reputable, you dont want to go cheap on sushi, plastic surgery or electrolysis lol.
