Although I'm acne free right now and rarely get any my face is still red and irritated because I damage my moisture barrier after using too many chemicals and overefoliating.

No matter how much moisturizer I use my face doesnt seem to heal. So i decided to use nothing but plain water to wash my face and hopefully it will heal itself. I will try my best to stick with it for at least a mos. haha hope it will work!!!

The key to healing your skin's moisture barrier is restoring the pH balance, which should be around 4.7. Try micellar water initially, then as it improves you can switch to a gentle cleanser or colloidaloatmeal.

Another thing you can try is an oil cleanse. It's just one more step to cleansing with water. Rinse your face with warm water, then use about a nickel's worth of oil. Spread it over your hands, then apply to your face. Massage the oil in for about a minute. Remove with a warm washcloth. You can use mineral oil or MCT oil.

Day 1: Washed face with just water in the morning and didnt bother to wash it tonight. Face is less red and irritated. Hope it will continue to improve.
