Hello everyone!
My name is Duy (pronounced "yree"). I'm 22 and Vietnamese.
I started breaking out in 8th grade and it wasn't until junior year in high school when my acne became severe.
About 2 years ago, my acne started to calm down. I went to a dermatologist and was prescribed Acticlate, Tazorac, and Aczone. I have very few breakouts now, however, I am left with pretty bad acne scars.
I have started a chemical peel with SonaMedSpa called the Vitalize Peel. I started on July 7th with a light peel to see how my skin would react to the product. I felt no burn or pain, and my skin did not peel at all. The only positive result from the light peel was that the red marks by my ears began to fade a bit, and I was able to see my scars more clearly than before (its weird). I have 2 more sessions to go. My next one on August 4th will be a stronger peel. The total damage was $450 for 3 sessions, so I hope to see better results.
I'm sure this isn't going to help with the ice pick scars but I hope that it will at least reduce the redness and treat some of the shallow scars. This log will keep track of my progress with the Vitalize Peel. I will post pictures on August 4th and then weekly after that. If I do not like my results, I plan on doing another log on microdermabrasion and that is as much I will spend (laser doesn't sound like fun). I will just have to accept the way my skin looks.
In the meantime, if anyone has done the Vitalize Peel, I would like to read about your experience. Also, if you guys have any other suggestions besides microdermabrasion, please let me know!
This was taking on July 23rd. I actually don't care too much about the scarring on the left side of my face. Hopefully the redness with fade though.
