This is for the greater good.  Not enough people post their experiences with cortisone shots, yet so many of us have gotten them.  I think it's important for us to share our experiences with photo documentation, so here's the skinny.  For the full story, see this topic:

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/359858-increasing-retin-a-increasing-spironolactone-restarting-minocycline-initial-breakout-help/

Cyst 1 (bottom) surfaced on 6/11.  Cyst 2 (top) surfaced abruptly during the day on 6/14.  Both hurt like hell.  Derm appointment on 6/15.  Injected both lesions with 0.2 mL diluted Kenalog, I believe she said.

Top picture is right before injections.  Bottom picture is about 5 minutes after injections.  This isn't my first Kenalog rodeo, so I can't really comment on the pain.  It's a little prick per injection.  Even if you have low pain tolerance, you shouldn't be in agony whatsoever.  Still feeling some pressure and pain about 3 hours post-injections, but nothing like before.  Bleeding stopped quickly with light pressure applied, and I requested no bandage because it just irritates my skin more.  I'll keep updating.  Derm said I should see almost full resolution of both cysts within 48 hours.  No lancing or draining was done.  Have had good success with shots in the past, although 2 prior shots created light red marks and slight atrophy.  However, that's only on spots that I had already poked and prodded and squeezed before I got injections, so it's probably my fault.

Look worse to you? Does to me. Not as painful. About 27 hours post-injections.  The redness is more widespread, and the other skin just seems more irritated.  More zits surfacing every day.  I hate this.

Hate to say it. I think my cortisone shots were diluted too much. This pic was taken almost 80 hours post-injections. More widespread redness. Still bulbous. More zits forming around the area. I feel diseased. I'm calling the derm on Monday. I'm so upset.

1.5 weeks after the injections, which were diluted too much. I'm getting at least one major cyst above the original lesions. More stuff happening elsewhere. I see the derm again on Wednesday. This has to stop.

Unbelievable. More zits today between brows and even on my cheeks. And, of course, at least one new cyst coming below the injected cysts. It's huge.

Got the third cyst injected a week ago. It started to decrease, but now it has been replaced by a triple-whitehead cyst right above it. Made the mistake of trying to extract two of the whiteheads because they looked close to the surface. Angered the area. Third whitehead surfaced. Now I have a massive, dry, throbbing, beet-red, scabby zit. I seriously don't go outside anymore. I hate my life. Tazorac is killing me. I wake up to new whiteheads and cysts every day. Three months ago, I never wore makeup. I seriously hate this so much. I'm depressed as hell.
