A log to keep track on my progress with inositol (myo-inositol). You're welcome to follow and give inputs/questions.

Starting a new thing for my mild hormonal acne, that has been quite persistent lately, after I've started purposely skipping periods (I got an idea from my gynecologist who claimed it could help me balance my hormones), but acne has been increasingly worse ever since I started with continuous bcp throughout the whole cycle. Other side effects been breakthrough bleeding, obviously my body needed to get rid of the uterus lining badly, lol. So I'm stopping that and introducing inositol with hope that it will help me regulate my periods, mood swings and reduce insulin resistance and hopefully my sensitivity to DHEAS and stress hormones.

At the same time I'm taking Yasmin (soon 2 years) and lowering my dose of Spironolactone, due to really bad side effects. Lowering from 50mg to 37,5 and then to 25. If the side effects don't reduce, I'm gonna get of spiro for good.

So this is day one on Inositol in powder form, just took it before my meal, it has a slightly sweet taste.

Will post again in some time, to see if my monthly breakout, that is due soon, is gonna be milder on Inositol.

:)

Day 4 and I already feel Inositol working. Nothing related to my skin, but I started taking Inositol right before starting the inactive pills of Yasmin, and it used to take me 5 days to trigger a period, and now I got a period almost directly after starting the inactive pills. That never happened before.

i've been wanting to try inositol out.. may I ask what brand you are using, and what dosage are you taking? also, have you experienced any calming/sedative effects while on that dosage?

I feel like i'm in a similar situation as you (however I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS ..yet?) but I also have mild acne despite being on spironolactone 100mg - it's efficacy has been steadily decreasing over the course of several months.

anyway, please keep us updated on your progress!

So, I've been taking Inositol for nearly a month now, can definitely confirm the sedative effects, Nebulaeic! It's been waaaaay easier for me to fall asleep.

About the brand - it's a Swedish brand, so I don't think it's gonna tell you much, but it's a brand that makes supplements for sporty people.

Skin's kinda ok, less breakouts this month, even though i've been going through difficult stuff this month. Definitely continuing, will keep you posted!

Hi i see its been around 2 months since you started inositol. Are you still taking it? Have you had any success with it? I have just bought some and going to give it try also. How much r u taking? The dosage instructions on my bottle say to take 4g a day. That seems alot so might start with 1g and increase gradually just to make sure i dont get side effects. I don't take bc or spiro but have been using Dim and vitex for a little while to balance hormones. plus a whole lot of vittamins. Can't hurt to add one more supplement into the mix :)

I have a question I also struggle with pcos and my Endo actually prescribed me Metformin. Have you ever tried it out I think it works similar to Inositol in that it helps regulate insulin issues lowering free t in that manner. Anyways good luck to you :)
