This is going to be the personal log for my daughter Robin's journey. She is 22 years old and has always had clear skin, with the exception of a monthly pimple or two with her cycle. About 6 months ago her face started breaking out with what they were calling cystic acne. She was put on two antibiotics and several topicals including Retin-A. There has been no improvement and all the dr. did was up her dosages. About 2 months ago my daughter moved from here on the west coast to Florida. She has researched dermotologists there and chosen one near her new home. Her first appt. will be Sept. 12, 2014. The attached pictures were taken Sept. 2, 2014 and are the starting point on this log. Hopefully she will be clearing up this time and there will be improvement. I will post after the appt. with whatever medications and changes they make.

Sorry for the delay in the followup post. My daughter went to the dr. last Friday. As soon as the dr. walked in the exam room she said "oh yes, have you thought of trying Acutane for your acne"? My daughter was expecting this and said that yes, she had been researching it. They asked what insurance company she would be working through and when she said she was a "cash" client they shook their head. Apparently (they told her) that the prescription would/could run to about $1000 a month. HOLY CRAP...With all the side affects and the cost, this must be some miracle drug. Since she is technically still on my health insurance, though they have NO coverage in the state she moved to, I am in the process of dropping her off mine and signing her up for Obama-Care. I have read on the forums that BCBS covers the Acutane. I am waiting for a callback from the broker to figure out all the details. In the meantime, her face is not improving, but isn't getting worse either. Hopefully there will be something happening soon.
