Posting this log to keep track of my first prescription for acne EVER of Retin-A Micro 0.04%! My Derm. prescribed this to treat my mild-moderate persistent acne that I have been struggling with since I was as young as 11 years old (am in my 20's now). GO AWAY ACNE!
WEEK 1
So far, OUCH! The first couple of days I used this product my face was burning, itchy, dry and peeling!! It HURT SO BAD!!!! I can't even explain how bad, all I can tell you is OWWY
My Derm. referred me to use Neutrogena oil-free acne cleanser while using this topical. I also use Aveeno Active Naturals Ultra-Calming daily moisturizer to help with the dryness and I apply it very often throughout the day because if not, I cannot move my face! THAT is how dry it is! The corners of my mouth are even cracking because I do not have full range of motion and can barely fit foods into my mouth!! It hurts to even eat! Crazy-ness!
The burning sensation started to subside but the peeling continues and is primarily above my upper lip (lips are chapped too). I am constantly applying moisturizer and chap-stick. I have had to stop wearing my facial make-up completely. I tried using my Bare Minerals powder yesterday and let me tell you, I looked like a reptile going through a devastating unhealthy phase of shedding, you could see my face peeling from 10 miles away and I did NOT look attractive. Awful!
My acne started to clear up on the first two days but now it seems like all the pustules waiting to surface are now coming up and saying HEY! HERE I AM! -__- so as far as my acne goes, it's a little better but still not where I'd like it to be. On another note, the marks from older acne are actually disappearing! My skin tone is starting to even out and looking much better than my teen years. Which is awesome because these marks get SO DARK and ugly and I haven't found anything that has been able to get rid of them.
Even though so far not much has changed, I plan to stick with it and hopefully things get better! (fingers are crossed)
Hey dont worry, you will have success, just keep at it and stick with it throughout the purging phase. I would just say keep it away from your corner of your lips because it's definitely not good to use it around that area as the skin there is normally quite thin and already dry.
