After trolling the boards for a while, I felt like I should join and give my regimine some limelight and hope to help someone else too. A short background about me:
I'm 24, Male and I suffer from I'd say is mild cystic and general acne. I am an extremely healthy individual, an amateur bodybuilder, and a clean person overall. My past goes something along the lines of getting hormonal acne (puberty stuff) around the age of 17 and it ramping up it's severity into my 20's to become pretty bad around my whole body. I had really nasty scaring cystics, pustules and whiteheads on my face, back and chest. I say that hoping you'll understand how bad it really was and I'm not at a person who makes something sound worse than it is, because it was terrible.
I took Accutane once when I was 18 and it cleared me for a while and by 20 I had pretty serious acne hitting my face again but luckily my back and chest stayed clear. Around 23 I took another serving of accutane and cleared up really well for about 10 months which included bulking and cutting for a bodybuilding contest. Shortly there after, a couple months - it hit again.
So, after trying a few topical and coming to the conclusion that I was wasting time, effort, and brainpower - I have decided to try something else. I like the idea of the Caveman regimine but my skin is too dry and I live in Idaho where it gets really dry/cold, so I wont be able to keep my face dry all the time. It needs some cleaning moisture.
Earlier this year I was clear and happy, I was in a pre-contest diet until April 2nd and after that I went to a bulk diet with clean foods. Stayed clean up until the second week of July when I came back from Hawaii and my acne has been like this since. I also have a lot of redness on the side of my slap and continue to get acne on my temple area, I contribute this to washing my hair/scalp everyday with hard water and shampoo.
July 2012:
Now December 2012:
It's going to look something like this:
10g B5 Daily
Nightly Spray bottle with Diluted water
ZMA Tablets at night
I will not be doing anything else to my face, period. I've chosen these two items because I believe that b5 has incredible value considering how I don't have vegetable intake like I used to when I was pre-contest and B5 is a sebaceous suppressor which can help. I chose the diluted water because my hard water showers leave my face rock hard and after a while of thinking about it, my acne was not bad a few months ago but I consider the possibility of getting acne and pounding it with crap water a downside to the natural healing process. So when I shower, I'll skip my hair and face, I'll wash my hair once a week with Selsum Blue.
And my posting will work like this:
Each Sunday I will post update facial pictures and detail how I am doing.
I'm sure I've skipped something but I'll try and keep this simple for now. Lets hope that I can internally assist my dermis to heal while keeping chemicals and hard water off my face externally to expedite the process.
One last thing - I chose to not use washes etc because in the past I've found that leaving my face alone, makes it better. But again, reiterating on hard water; I had acne and just washed it in the shower with water and after my face was dry and hard. I'm hoping the new diluted water will be softer and aid in my face to naturally heal itself.
