If you are reading this, you most likely are battling the agonizing skin condition known as acne. I had acne for a bit, not nearly as bad as others, but it was still embarrassing. It really took a toll on my social life. Now, however, after creating my own diet I am almost entirely pimple free. I even get compliments on my skin now and then. This has all come entirely through my diet.

My diet is very restricted, and most of you will most likely not have the will power to follow it. Here is a break down of what I do not eat: Meat, Poultry, Seafood, Eggs, Dairy, Soy, Added Salts, Added Sugars, Certain Fruits, and I don't drink anything other than water. This may sound insane and impossible, but if you want clear skin this is the way to go.

This is how my daily routine for eating looks like: Breakfast- a bowl of unsweetened shredded wheat mixed with cut apple, blueberries, cinnamon, and a scoop of flax seed. Lunch- washed off chick peas (to remove the added salt), a cooked sweet potato, half an avocado, and a lot of cooked garlic. Dinner- assorted fruit (not raisins, grapes, pineapple, or banana. These have been proven to cause acne) and assorted steamed vegetables. I also drink around 10-12 cups of water a day.

After a month of doing this I had not one pimple on my face. The reason was due to all the foods I cut out of my system. Meat and poultry that are not organic or free range (there are also others but I don't remember their names) have added hormones and antibiotics. These cause your body to create pimples trying to get these toxins out of your body. So does eggs and dairy. The animals are given hormones and antibiotics to grow which also turns up in their eggs and milk. Seafood is loaded with iodide which is causes major acne. This iodide is from all the sea salt these fish have in them. Salts cause people to break out like no other. Also, soy has estrogen in it which mixes with your hormones to make you break out. Sugars affects your blood to make you break out. The reason you can have the sugar in fruits is due to the fiber that these fruits have. The fiber helps your body process the sugar. Some fruits however are inflammatory like bananas which will cause more acne. Grapes, Raisins, and pineapple have also been shown to cause acne. Fruit juices also cause acne. When you are juicing fruits, you are ridding them of all their fiber which will cause acne.

There are some foods, however, that aid in fighting acne. These include cold milled flax seed, garlic, and ginger. Flax seed is loaded with omega 3 fatty acids which aid tremendously in fighting acne. Garlic and ginger help with your blood and clear your body of toxins, ultimately lowering the amount of acne you have drastically.

Follow what I have said, and you will see a major difference in not only your skin, but in your health.

Please post any feedback after giving this diet a try; I'd love yo hear your results

My acne is triggered by gluten (and dairy), so this diet would be terrible for me.

Where is it proved that grapes cause/aggrivate acne? You know it has been proven that dairy causes acne..

I pretty much follow your diet but I eat organic meats and poultry. I avoid soy, eggs, grains and gluten. I have seen an improvement but I'm still breaking out due to my hormones being totally fudged up. I eat bananas everyday though, maybe that's causing me to break out? I'm seeing an allergist tomorrow so hopefully I find out what I should cut out!

I've been reading Feed Your Face by Dr. Jessica Wu...some things that are in your diet are in her book as well, such as dairy. I love milk and eggs and cheese and yogurt, so for a little while I tried switching to soy milk and soy cheese and non dairy yogurt... unfortunately with two jobs i had no time to go grocery shopping! now that i'm not working as much i would love to try this diet. However you say you avoid soy as well... i guess to each his own. I also need to stay away from gluten. i have inflammation of the colon (ulcerative colitis) and it is aggravated by gluten.

Thanks for sharing! More and more i start to believe that our diet is what's causing our acne. "Our" as in western civilization.

You sure are strong willed! Being married with a husband who loves burgers and steak, this may take a LOT of will power for me lol!

But how do you feel about coffee? Is caffeine in general bad?

What about caffeine free coffee?

I cannot stop the coffee addiction!
