Hi, for those who use sulfur do you think topical MSM could have the same effect?
I haven't tried topical MSM on my face but I mix powdered MSM in my self mixed shampoo and it's effective. I've recently ordered sublimed sulfur (which I should be getting next week) to see if that works better. If it does work, then I plan to mix some sulfur into my shea butter for face moisturizer.
thank you CECI. I didn't knew that.. I am glad and waiting the sulphur soap. expecting it tomorrow or the day after. I hope that I will have a 100% result like you have.
I heard about Ocean 21 for drinking it that it claims to be real good for SD. I will try that later.
I am a little tired of searching products..
Hi Sebastian,
For how long did you use it? And how strong is the green tea you mix with the White vinegar?
Are the results perfect all the time?
thanks!
I've been using this since April. I decided to see how the results of such treatment compares to Protopic. I use organic Green tea, I just let it brew for minimum 5-10 minutes so the tea gets dark.
It depends on what you mean by perfect. The results on my face (Nose, chin, sideburns, front head, etc.) are flawless. The results on my hair are not 100% perfect, but they are still the best thing that works now. The only problem with such treatment is that it takes care of the skin and flakes, but it does not cure SD.
P.S. As a side note, my hair are also healthier and they fall less easily.
Has anyone tried Nizoral 2% Cream (not shampoo) for seborrheic dermatits on the face? I read a proper study showing twice daily application for 2 months resulted in virtual elimination of all symptoms.
I used it for a while and it didnt stop the slight redness. No anti fugal i tried fixes that for me. I always have a slight redness on the porus sections of the face.
Yes duh I used it for more than 2months but it didn't work anymore after that.
How did it work for those two months? You're saying you developed resistance?

Did it improve the appearance at all, though? What about oral antifungals?
Anyone else have any experience with oral antifungals? I read the thread but don't recall seeing them mentioned. You can get strong antifungals... surely if it came to it (topical applications are not working) a combination of a strong oral antifungal, a topical antifungal and a holistic approach (improved immune system through diet, vitamins, probiotics, exercise) simultaneously for a couple of months would do the trick?
I've only been battling with this for a month or so and am in the process of of trying the various shampoos/topicals, but I'm convinced it's possible to beat this thing.
P.S. Aloe vera gel improved the appearance of mine dramatically after one application.

yeah dude nizoral is next to useless and really bad for your skin if you use it for a prolonged period of time. i had way better results with a $2 bottle of acv than i did with that crap.
P.S. Aloe vera gel improved the appearance of mine dramatically after one application.
same here. i didn't think it'd do anything but since it's so gentle i thought i may as well; that stuff is awesome. also great for healing zits.

just wondering what it does to your skin if you use it for a long time? and how long is prolonged?
i think the infro paper that the cream comes with says not to use it for longer than two weeks at a time, but i'm sure it doesn't just take two weeks to do damage. my derm said it can change the texture of your skin
hey Ceci,
I succeeded I finally got the sulphur soap now I will oder tomorrow as wel the shea butter. I really don't know why it took so long.. they just didn't say. I already tried it 3 times.. on my nose it looks good but under my nose area (between nose and lips goes Mustace area) I develop skin layers in the colour white... only when I rinse it off with warm water.
I woul like to inform if you tried it also without the shea butter..?? Probalby takes another 2 weeks when the shea butter will arrive by post. Can I use the sulphur soap also without....maybe you did experimentate this.
How is the sulphur for you working mixed with sheabutter.?
bye ceci

Thanks for the information I didn't knew about sublimed sulfur, at what percentage do you plan to use it?
I received my sublimed sulfur. I'm so happy. I'm planning to mix a 10% for face moisturizer. Today I made my first sulfur mix. I made a 10% mix for my scalp. The only thing is, I think sublimed sulfur is oil soluble, so I'll have to figure out a way to make something for my face that doesn't entail using as much oil as my scalp (I don't want to walk around with a greasy face). I'll probably see if I can mix the sulfur in a very small amount of oil and then mix (whip) that into my shea butter. That should work. Before I try the face "experimental lotion," I plan to use the scalp "experimental lotion" to see if my scalp does well on it. I'd rather my scalp broke out than my face but I don't see why it will not work. Wishing myself luck.
Whats up all.. I am new to this forum.. Just joined today as I had been reading previous posts for the past couple of weeks..So my story.. I am a 22 year old male that got seb derm about a year and a half ago.. As much as I would like to say this doesnt suck and I don't care what people think about me.. it does SUCK and I guess I do care what people think about me otherwise this condition wouldnt bother me so much.. Not to be cocky or conceited but I am a good looking guy (or at least I think I am haha) and this has definitely hurt my confidence. I feel like everything happens for a reason and this is something that can definitely be controlled with the right products.. Unfortunately I have not found that yet.. I have used ovace, coal tar, locoid, znp. Out of those products the best one I have found is Ovace, but the cream is kind of oily and it started breaking me out.. After waiting a couple of weeks to go to the derm, I had an appointment today with a well known dermatologist in my area. Of course I saw him for maybe 2 minutes and he prescribed me Avar which is sodium sulfacetamide and sulfur. I used it today and it is kind of drying which is why I think I am not going to use it..
My plan of attack- I remember someone writing on here that BP helped out alot.. BP is AMAZING when it comes to acne.. I had some acne on my back and after 3 weeks it was all gone, and I continue to stay clear by using panoxyl wash 2.5% one time a day in that area. I always thought it was too harsh for my skin, but I figure it can kill acne bacteria, probably similar to the fungus that causes seb derm.. It will also help control the oil which is a contributor for the seb derm.. I will use it once a day and use oil of oil oil free moisturizer where my skin gets dry.. I'll let you know how it goes...
Sorry for the long post, just needed to vent somewhere.. Let's keep this post going and find a cure for this horrible condition.. Whenever i think this sucks, I always come back to the phrase, what doesnt kill you, only makes you stronger... Just think how good we will all feel once we have our seb derm under control..
One more note to ship in the bottle- Your really pretty
Just a thought, but instead of discontinuing the Avar (sodium sulfacetamide and sulfur are great for SD), why don't you try to find a light moisturizer to use after applying this? This Avar is probably way milder on the skin than BP.

Hi Joellie,
It's great that you finally got your soap. Sure you can use it without the shea butter. If your face feels dry after washing, then use a moisturizer. Hopefully the shea butter will reach you faster than the sulfur soap.
Also, make sure you keep the sulfur soap out of water so that it lasts longer. One bar lasts me so very long.
Have a great week.

this sounds really interesting! let us know how it works! i'm especially interested in how long it will take the smell to fade. i use sulfur soap (grandpa's thylox) and it works great and the smell fades as soon as my skin is dry, but that's a soap
SD is awful. I have it all over the place: scalp, between the eyebrows, under the eyebrows, around the nose, and even on my chin. Also... behind and inside the ears. It makes me feel worse about myself than even my acne does.
I'm trying to get some apple cider vinegar and start applying it topically to see if it changes anything. Honestly, right now I am desperate for anything that will provide me even the tiniest bit of improvement.
I don't have SD, I do have dandruff though. My dad has bad SD though and he gets bad itching all the time. Its like he's constantly scratching and I feel bad for him. He says at work, he has to go to bathroom every 1/2 hour to scratch...He has tried so many of creams etc. but nothing seems to be helping him. His SD seems to be all over his body.
Do you guys know anything which will control the itching or is it just a mind control kind of thing?
thanks Ceci,
I just make the sulphur soap wet and go with my hand over the soap till I get a sort of a foam and apply it on the sd area on my nose.. then rinse off with warm water. than dry it with a towel. some minutes after when i put my finger on my side of the nose and move it up and down I still have some rash. If I am right please confirm it's only for one week?? At St. Joseph they said 3 weeks..
Where do you live>?
