One more thing...

People with SD should be absolutely positive that they don't have dandruff in scalp. If they do, remove it with a medicated shampoo. Some patients have reported how their SD went away after they got rid of scalp dandruff.

Wow, old post, but is there any proof of your words on this actual site? I'd be interested to read if so.

which medicated shampoos shud i be using?

Something with Zinc and/or Sulphur in it. You could try Ketoconazole (Nizoral). It is sold commercially, or you could go to the doctors and see what they can prescribe you, if you have dandruff on your scalp.

any updates on this thread? My face is out of control at the moment. I feel like Ive exhausted everything at this point and there is nothing left for me to try. Diet, antifungals, lasers, light therapy, topicals, supplements all have failed. Ive had my thyroid out for a couple of months and my skin is worse than ever. Im taking my armour medication and my bio identical hormone creams daily and nothing will calm the inflammation. Ive tried tumeric supplements to see if that works and nothing. Its a red, rashy hot burning mess. They say people with rosacea dont have whiteheads or blackheads but that is not the case with me. My chin is loaded with clogs and keratin plugs everywhere. There in the corners of my mouth and down across the crease of my chin. When I try and extract them they retreat with the plug still lodged. Right now i have two that are inflammed and will not heal due to the plug still inside. ive upped my zinc intake to try and get them to heal but after a week they are still red and raw. I was recently experimenting with an antifungal oil by trustnature.com called DermEssentials and it did squat. So what does all this mean if this didnt work? The only way to get my skin smooth and flake free is to wash with pyrthione zinc but its way to harsh for my skin and I can red bumps and am raw for days. The flakes come right back the next day and build up again so Im just not sure what to do anymore. Im living in hell for 3 yrs now and its taken everything from my life. Im so sad

Have you tried using just oregano oil on your face? After trying everything for my acne-ridden, seborrheic dermatitis covered face, I finally decided to try oregano oil as I'd done a ton of research and found that many people had success with it, when using it mixed with water. So, what I do, is put 2-3 drops of oregano essential oil in a cup of filtered water. I then wash my face with water only in the evening and then pat it dry. Then, I put some of the oregano oil & water solution on my face and let it air dry (just make sure that you shake it very well before applying to your skin). That's it. I only wash my face in the evening so I only do it once a day. However, you could start by doing it 2-3 times a day to really get your face under control in the beginning and then eventually taper off to once a day. Just be warned that for the first few days, you may get some added redness and itchiness as the SD fights back. I really wish you lots of luck and hope you find success with this method. It's really helped me a lot. I actually started with putting the oregano oil solution on the bottom portion of my face only, as a sort of experiment, about 4 months ago. Then, seeing as that was the clearest part of my entire face, I finally started to use it on my entire face about 5 days ago and am so happy I did as the rest of my face is now clearing up too. So, good luck to you and please email me if you have any questions! I'll be praying this works for you too!

i know it sounds crazy but the seborrheic dermatitis microbes turn your body oil into soap! here is a lecture given by John Hovanesian MD of Harvard Eye. search youtube for "Dry Eye Treatment Part II, John Hovanesian MD Harvard Eye"

youtube.com/watch?v=HSF45Wx9BOE

he starts to talk about it about 3 and a half minutes in. it explains a lot! it explains the soapy taste that i though meant i was leaving soap on me and it explains why the treatments on your face are not really effective. they are riding on top of the soap and the bacteria are protected by the soap! the bacteria are producing soap scum on you and soap scum is virtually impenetrable. before any treatment can be effective you must get the soap scrum off of you so the bacteria can be treated directly. i'm trying some natural soap scum removal treatments like vinegar that are gentle enough for human skin.

the post by the guy who said that when he was running a lot he didn't have a problem makes me suspicious that what i have thought for quite a while is true, that it's not the sun that makes it better, it's the sweat. the extra sweat floats the soap off of you. mine always gets much worse the first week in September here in maine when the temperature suddenly gets 10 degrees cooler and doesn't recover because of a shift in the jet stream but the amount of sun is still the same.

I have acne prone skin + seborrheic dermatitis. Somehow I kept like 90% both under control for last 3 months.

My regimen:

Topical - shower once a day every day, using grandpa's pine tar soap for the face, after that I spray it with 50:50 ACV / water mix in spray bottle, leaving it 2-4 minutes then rinse under shower without the soap. For the hair I rotate 3 shampoos - one with selenium sulfide, some other with Zinc pyrithione and one with octopirox. After bath sometimes I moisturize with grapeseed oil and few times a week with Zinc pyrithione spray if the SD appear.

Internally - 50 mg Zinc, water kefir morning and evening, recently started taking calcium/ magnesium/ copper because I totally quit dairy accept yogurt and calcium deficiency can cause serious bone/teeth problems also zinc in long term could cause copper deficiency. Almost no sugar, but not 100% tho. I don't drink coffey. Also no sodas and juices sold on market.

Well thats about it and works quite well for me so far. I try to relax and just let it go when it comes to argue or somehow im going to get mad cuz stress is really a major factor. I am also considering trying a Zinc PCA cream (anybody tried it?)

Wicky if nothing topical seems to work that good maybe you should focus on vitamins and probiotics.. hmm I don't really know..

con eli nice to hear another working regimen, how is oregano oil doing on acne?

im doing worse than ever...just resorted to predisone to clear this current rash up all along the sides of my face. That plus the buildup of disgusting skin has put me in a really dark place. ACV never worked for me even diluted as it was way too drying. I use dermadoctors born to be mild several times a week but again its drying. I also tried granpas pine tar and it works fine on my forhead but no where else because 1. it doesnt remove makeup and 2. its drying. I never know what to moisturize with as i've tried jojoba and hemp oil but they dont keep me moisturized. My the redness from my seb derm is not in the usual places but all along the insides of my cheeks. I get these weird red patches and bumps as well. Ive also tried oregano oil internally but not on my skin. I like the idea of spraying the acv on and then rinsing off. I find each day hard to continue thats how bad things are..

where do you buy the pyrthione zinc spray?

The oregano oil does wonders for acne. What I'm now doing is using the oregano oil every other day instead of daily as I found it too irritating. Every other day is much better and still helps tons with the acne AND the seborrheic dermatitis. For the past few days, I've also been using a topical probiotic mask on the nights that I don't use the oregano oil, which I'm really liking. I am using the Yogurt Starter from Natren, which has 2 strains of bacteria which are supposed to be excellent for the skin. One of the strains is also supposed to help with the ceramide levels of the skin. I mix about 1/4 tsp. with 1/2 tsp. of pure aloe vera gel and then apply it as a mask for about 10 minutes. I'll keep you updated as to how it goes.

I should also mention that I'm taking the following supplements, recommended to me when I went for microscopic blood analysis. There's a woman who does it in the city where I live and she's got an excellent reputation. I waited 9 months to get in to see her so am following her advice and seeing what happens. I've been using the supplements for about 5 weeks now. They are:

- Beta carotene: 25,000 IU daily

- Vitamin E: 400 IU, 2 times daily

- Selenium: 100 mcg daily (or I just eat 1-2 brazil nuts instead)

- Vitamin D3: 4,000 IU, 2 times daily

- Vitamin C Scorbatate powder: 1,000 mg daily

- Zinc Picolinate: 15 mg, 2 times daily

- Natren Health Start System for a probiotic

I'm also taking Black Walnut because I had parasites show up in my blood work.

Well, again, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Thanks for the detailed reply con eli.

Wicky I buy my ZnPT spray from a local pharmacy not sure if you can find it else where but my country.

Here is detailed [Edited link out] It's about 15 $ here which last me long time and really making huge difference in my sebderm and works for acne as well.

Other cream/moisturizer you may give a try is Salcura Zeoderm Skin Repair Moisturising Cream. I heard a lot of good reviews and I found it even cheaper on amazon than my local pharmacy.

Ok, so this is my second post, both involving this same product, as I haven't gotten any responses to my other thread ill post here. I developed SD after back to back to back course of antibiotics (amoxicillian and clindamycin) so reading on net there is alot of belief that website dermatitis is fungal. As most all fungal use chitin to protect itself I was wondering what anyone though of this "candidacellwallsuppressor.com" hopefully that turns into a link, if not just Google candida cell wall suppressor. It allegedly allows your immune system to attack fungus overgrowth by destroying the protective sheild chitin. Seriously debating trying it, although it's main ingredients is 98% lufeneuron, which is a pesticide. However they claim it is harmless to humans as no human properties use chitin. Any thoughts ideas? I'm desperate I've had acne since 14 and it.Finally finished clearing up at 26, no red marks left, just normal clear very oily skin. And I never used any acne message or topical, just soft soap and spectro jel. Now after back to back antibiotics I'm having so many hyperpigmentation marks my once oily skin is now super dry and flakey, I've NEVER, NEVER had dry skin, always super oily. I'm 27 I got to enjoy normal skin formless than one year after all that suffering....and nowninknow how I loom with clear skin, so this ducks more. DONT TAKE ANTIBIOTICS FOR ANYTHING NON LIFE THREATENING!!!! You will regret it later in the future, especially for acne, just go straight for the accuntane, this isn't a life long course tucking up your gut, causing skin problems later. Anyway check out candida cell wall suppressor, I'm afraid to try it without more opinions. Maybe someone will take the jump with me? Lol.

Didn't mean to post twice but...

One more possible treatment (although this one will require everyday use instead of fixing the yeast problem in your gut) would be manuka oil, possibly mixed in with your moisturizer, and or manuka honey as a face mask / cleanser. Just make sure it's raw and has a umf of 16 at least, and follow up with a very small amount of virgin coconut oil as a moisturiser as these both have antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic properties. And both are supposed to be good at healing the skin, especially the manuka.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried using 1 part Apple cider vinegar to 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 10 parts water, leaving it on for 2 to 3 minutes and then rinsing with water? If so, has it helped with your SD?

I'm too afraid to put hydrogen peroxide on my skin, and every time I've use hydrogen peroxide for a zit it left ice pick scarring. HP will damage your skin, although it has great antiseptic properties, it does nothing for helping the skin heal, in fact, in my experience, and common sense, HP hinders your skins ability to properly heal tissue damage. I would recommend against it. But if you do try it, let us know how it goes. [Edited image out]

hey everybody ,I'm new here . but not that new ... I'm old and still having acne problems and what I think is sd on face and rashes and pimples all over my body .

I was reading about wicky condition and it kind of hit home ,I usually dont like to post or go to chat or anything but I had to say something ....I think that I had acne and sd all my life ,I was using proactiv and then proactiv had a recall and it all went downhill for my face from there ,I went to the dermatologist and antibiotics and retin a micro and my face was a mess I developed those hard little waxy things on my face ,and they dont go away until i kind of push them out hard . Iam hypothyroid ,and my white blood platelets come out high most of the time ,my pf wants to send me back to the oncologist again .

Ok ,itchy face ,red rashes ,flakiness that doesnt stop ,ever ,drives me nuts ,I cant still havent been able to control that ,before all of this I used to have oily skin and now I have dry itchy skin.

this is what I use :

am

cetaphyl antibacterial soap

neutrogena deep clean cream cleanser oil free (use enough to leave some on the face for 3 to 5 min)

massage first and then leave it on.

neutrogena rapid clear toner the yellow one ,at walmart , can be a little bit drying if so ,wet the cotton pad with faucet water and remove excess water ,then apply some toner to the wet cotton ,that way it wont be that irritating ,you can use as many pads as needed to remove flakes ,just dont over exfoliate .

to treat I use the regimen treatment ,I use depending on how my skin feels that day ,a quarter size or less

and to moisturize ,I use dual action moisturizer from clean and clear .I had never been able to use any moisturizer or sunscreen ever .

pm ......the same lately

I notice that when I dont wash my face twice ,the itching gets worst .

my daughter uses the cleanser from proactiv and the extra strenght toner from proactiv .

Ithink that the toner from neutrogena works as well as the proactiv

to remove make ....simple cleansing cloths ,not the exfoliating ones .

makeup this day ......hard ,the bb cream from loreal ,magic skin beautifier or revlon color stay ,but still get itchy with revlon .powders hard to find ,make me itchy .

but the good thing is that I havent had a breakout while using these products , I still get flaky and itchy and for the itchiness in the middle of the night ,I grab some persa gel 10 from clean and clear on a q-tip and just rub a little to clean where it itches and then I grab another qtip and apply persa gel a light ,light coat .

and for my hair I use the pink sulfate free from loreal and sometimes the blue conditioner ,but I get all over itchy body with conditioners .and sugar and chocolates and peanuts .

I hope this helps ....I used lotrimin too ,it clogs the pores .

I think exfoliation is the key .

Starting to wonder whether I have this and possibly leads to me getting whiteheads. I have really oily skin that dries and makes the creases around my nose and the skin on my chin really itchy and irritated, does that sound like SD to you?

I have dry areas where my skin is oily and it's just impossible to get rid of :|

Yes, LewisS and noche, the itching you describe, or the oily skin, or the redness at the folds of the nose are prime indicators of SD. In my experience, skin flakes are a more advanced condition, where the condition progresses after several decades or more.

Look here, for a review I wrote of all our non-prescription options, and my experience with home compounding effective treatments.

Please post back if this is helpful for you. My write up may sound complicated but seborrhoeic dermatitis is a lifetime condition and it doesnt go away on its own.

yes,tom ,you are right ... I always had acne and used proactiv for about 18 years on and off ,sometimes it would stop working ,and sometimes I would use and steroid cream that my mom used to get me from mexico ,it was called synalar ,I think thatit has the equivalent of flucinonide ,it used to work wonders for my acne ,then a couple of years later told me ,stop using that cream ,people say that it messes up the skin and gives you cancer ...ooops too late ,during the years ,I used to develop cysts or pimples that wouldnt heal ,so I had to have 3 surgeries on my face to remove those 3 ,it didnt happened all at the same time ,one at a time ,and at the end of 2009 proactiv messed up and had a recall ,so basically I wasnt washing my face ,it happened to my daughter and I so we had to run to the dermo ,well ,I saw the dermo and his 2 assistants ,they said ,eczema ? keratosis ?seborrheic dermatitis ? and when you get one of those rashes ,get tested ,thats it ,meanwhile my face was falling off ,so I had to find things on my own ,my daughter wasnt that bad ,thank god ,but mine ,my skin its already damaged ,but Im just happy that I havent got any more pimples and the dry skin I can leave with it ,the white spots and the dark patches ,I dont mind ....all those pimples left scars and damaged tissue under but what can I do ? , I think it was caused by the retin a ,all the collagen ,antiagents dont work for seborrea ,that is why the glycolic acid in the proactiv toner used to stop working ,so that is about me .

when I take a shower I wash behind my ears and ,on my neck and my front hairline ,the retin a caused me to grow hair ,so everynow and then I have to pluck my facial hair , also around my hairline on top of my forehead ,and that seems to help , I use the deep clean cream cleanser oil free from neutrogena around my hair line also .please you guys read as much as you can about this ,I never knew I had this until now ....my daughter ,she uses the proactiv cleanser instead of the cetaphil antibacterial soap ,but she pretty much does the same ...exfoliate ,and she also had a reaction to the ziana ,after one year she had this bumps that hurt like a sore ,like when you hit something ,that is how much these pimples hurt ,they used to drive me crazy .

IMO the more shit you put on your skin the worse, seb derm is thought, and I agree, to be FUNGAL in nature. STOP using things that kill BACTERIA. A long course of antibiotics is what fucked up my skin. Now I'm hoping I can get it back to normal, somehow. All the beneficial bacteria has been killed, and I'm at a loss as to how to regain it. Hoping in time it will do so on its own. Does anyone feel that seb derm caused by antibiotics can or will reverse itself in time, or am I screwed for life now?

By the way, the life cycle of your "benefitial" bacteria are believed to be 3-10 days. So if you have been on a high dose, broad spectrum antibiotic like myself, for longer than 10 days, all the more recent research points to irreversible damage done to your gut/skin flora.

I'm now on somewhat of a mission to warn against the use of antibiotics, as doctors very rarely..VERY rarely inform you of the negative impacts they will have on you.

It should be considered mal-practice to prescribe antibiotics without an adjacent anti fungal (Powdered Nystatin, being probably the best choice) and a good probiotic (I'd recommend Dr Ohhira's and fermplus wholefood probiotic)

Rant.....

Would like to know who here has seborrheic dermatitis on their face and not their hair. I dont have this on my hair/scalp like lot of others but i do have dandruff in hair. I always had dandruff but it didnt bother me. But few months ago i got blepharitis and around my eye/eyebrow area. Also developed pimples on forehead as well and my has bad acne too.

Want to know what ppl thoughts are with these...

1. Head and Shoulders- I read people mentioned this works. But really? Wouldn't using this on face not be good idea? Also, do you use the shampoo or the conditioner? Some ppl say they only use conditioner and not use shampoo but other ppl say vice versa. Very CONFUSING.

2,. Hydrocortizone 1%- I read ppl said using this is good. But its a steroid and not meant to be used so how long can u use it then?

3. Aloe Vera Gel- Aloe vera gel is very good for healing skin like sunburn. I know this from back then. I did read someone mentioned you can use this in place of hydrocortizone. Thoughts? Does this help?

4. Manuka Honey- Would this work? I see some comments this is a viable option.

Also does anyone here have blepharitis. I have acne and few months ago went to eye doctor b/c of the pain in my eye and i found out i had it. I asked what could be the reason for this and she said it could be because of eye infection, or it could be acne etc as she saw i had that in my face. Im not 100 percent but im pretty sure i have the sebhorric dermatitis as well. I feel this b/c im losing eyebrows as well and i get pimples there and for some reason, i feel its all related.

Could the sebhorric dermatitis be the cause of my blepharitis or is it the other way around? Also do any of you have acne as well?

Folliculitis or blepharitis can be seborrheic dermatitis (seb derm for short) caused by malassezia. Medical terms used in dermatology are just descriptions of what the skin looks like. They are not any kind of diagnosis of what is actually causing the skin to look the way it does.

I reviewed all the available seb derm products at the link I posted above.

Head and Shoulders shampoo doesn't do anything for me. I don't know why anyone recommends it for seb derm. It was the only available treatment 40 years ago but much better producs are available now. Selsun Blue 1% shampoo works a little bit. Nizoral 1% shampoo works better. Hegor 150 shampoo works the best. People switch back and forth between these shampooo products, and claim that the yeast has become resistant to one or another, which is not really the case at all, but simply because all these shampoos are relatively ineffective as a whole body treatment. You need to use a ketoconazole or climbazole based lotion or cream on your skin to treat seb derm, in addition to using a shampoo as a body wash.

In addition, none of the shampoos are going to deliver enough medicine to the margins of your eyes without irritating your eyes and making them bloodshot. Around my eyes the only thing that works is 2% Nizoral cream that is prescription only in most countries but not in India or Thailand so you can mail order it off the web. The FDA has a non-enforcement policy they issued in August, 2012 so it's legal to mail order it from overseas for your own use only.

Seb derm is chronic, which means there's no cure, only lifelong treatment. It doesn't go away on its own like acne usually will. The yeast called malassezia down-regulates the body's immune system to avoid detection in some people, and so it must be a genetic immunodeficiency. Seb derm is not contagious except to premature babies on IV's, diabetics, people with HIV, or people with Parkinsons if youre around people with compromised immune systems, its recommended you wash your hands often. Seb derm can co-exist with acne and nearly any other skin condition.

Seb derm is very, very itchy, which is why people use corticosteroids, but steroids don't provide any treatment of the underlying yeast/immunodeficiency problem. I dont use them at all. If you don't have any itching you may have another condition that is not seb derm.

Aloe Vera does no harm but it doesn't do anything to treat seb derm. I can't comment on Manuka Honey and I can't imagine it doing anything but who knows?

The eyebrows and eyelids are the most difficult place to treat because the skin on your eyelids is the thinnest skin on your body. I don't have any hair loss from seb derm, and hair loss is not a symptom of seb derm as far as I know, so if you do, it probably is caused by an additional condition. For example, I have quite of bit of barely visible eyebrow and eyelash dandruff that has flaked off very slowly with proper treatment. I don't have acne now, although I did when I was 15 to 21.

Hi folks,

I have seborrheic dermatitis too. It's such a frustrating and horrible condition. After reading through some pages here, I'm pretty sad to see there's still no cure for it. They can put a man on the moon yet they can't stop a guy's scalp from itching? With all the technology available to us today, how isn't there a cure for this yet?!

Anyway, a little about me. I've had SD for like a year and a half now. It just appeared out of nowhere. It manifests as itching/burning on my scalp and a mild to moderate amount of white flakes on my face, most of which are between or underneath my eyebrows, and my face is generally very dry, especially in the morning. It used to be much worse, but after some research, I found something that helps me. Apologies if its already been mentioned.

Apple cider vinegar. You need the organic kind with the "mother". If you Google "apple cider vinegar + sebborheic dermatitis" you can find lots of forum threads about it and some blogs here and there where people have used it to good effect.

I've been using it for about 3 months and it has helped! My scalp doesn't itch as much, and there are hardly any white flakes in my hair. I will find the occasional white flake but that is nothing compared to how greezy and gross my scalp looked before.

Here is a blog I found that talks about ACV in relation to curing SD:

[Edited link out]

The way I use the ACV is to add it to my hair washing routine, which I do every few days. I start by pouring some ACV into a measuring jug. I shampoo and wash my hair, and then part my hair, and pour an amount straight onto the exposed scalp. I then make a new parting and pour it onto the newly exposed scalp, and then continue this process until I've covered most of my scalp. I let it sit for like 20 minutes then wash it out, then condition, wash that out and I'm done. Applying it will be much easier for dudes with shaved hair as you can just pour it all over your scalp and cover it all instantly.

So, look into apple cider vinegar. Again, make sure you get the kind "with mother" and you can buy it from Amazon and have it shipped straight to you.

Here's something else that might help:

I was doing some more research on SD the other day and I saw several references to how SD can be caused by a biotin deficiency. It said that if you have SD and intestinal problems (I have both) then you should try biotin supplements to fix the deficit. I started taking biotin supplements the other day and will continue for a while to see how things go. But I've heard from some people that it causes acne breakouts. So be mindful of that.

So, in conclusion:

1) Apple cider vinegar helped me out. I'm not totally cured but there are much less white flakes on my scalp or in my hair. My scalp does still itch but less frequently and less annoyingly than it did before, and while my face is still dry, I'm looking into moisturisers and other stuff to see how to handle that.

2) Do some research on biotin deficiency and sebborheic dermatitis. If you decide to take biotin then you can get it very easily from like eBay or whatever, it's a small tablet that's taken with water. But keep in mind what I said about the possibility of an acne breakout.

3) AVOID steroid creams for your face. I have read many times that as soon as you stop using these creams the flakes will come back, and they are very damaging for your face, with repeated usage making the veins underneath the skin visible because the creams radically affect the skin in a negative way. Luckily, I did my research, and found out about the harmful effects - I could have ended up ruining my skin by using a topical steroid. My general practitioner had given me one and I researched it and decided not to use it, so I saved my skin. The various shampoos (Nizoral etcetera) dermatologists give you for SD will also make your hair very dry - just an FYI for longer-haired people, so if you're going to use one, make sure you condition afterwards. I don't use those shampoos, I just stick with apple cider vinegar.

I hope this info helped!

coconut oil for hair is helpful as well. I could give a shit really about my hair, its my face that I cant get under control. ACV was way too harsh for me, even diluted. I need something to stop the waxy hard plugs from forming. Right now Im taking Oregano Oil twice a day and Nystatin but its only a few days and nothing yet. I wish there was a gentle toner or cleanser that was able to break thru all the dead skin once and for all.

Wicky, I saw some of your posts in the previous pages of the thread where you seemed to be in a dark place. Has there been any improvement in your condition?

Here is a link to a 20-page thread on seborrheic dermatitis by someone who has controlled their condition, you may find it useful: http://www.rosaceagroup.org/The_Rosacea_Forum/showthread.php?21593-How-I-am-controlling-my-Seborrheic-Dermatitis-so-far Lots of product recommendations and strategies in there.

Aloe Vera gel is effective at dissolving what appears to be dead skin, but which is most likely the protein, fat and polysaccharide bonds formed by the interaction of malassezia and the skin. There is very little scientific evidence for why this is effective, but it is confirmed by my own experience and in, A Double-Blind, Placebo Controlled Trial Of An Aloe Vera Emulsion In The Treatment Of Seborrheic Dermatitis, J. Dermatol. Treatment ,1999, 10, 7-11, (Vardy et al. 1999), (which is not on the web) where it is reported that improvement occurred for 60% of the patients with Aloe Vera, compared with only 20% of the control group.

My write up may sound complicated but seborrhoeic dermatitis is a lifetime condition and it doesn™t go away on its own.

I definitely think I have SD now. I started using nothing on my skin, which worked wonders for a while, but now I have really itchy dry skin around the sides and creases of my nose and it is horrible. I've tries applying moisturisers which seems to have made it worse (almost given it a breeding ground to grow...).

I'm thinking of purchasing sudocrem, it's a zinc based cream that I've used in the past for other skin conditions. Have you had any experience of using similar creams?

Thanks :)
