This is for everyone just to see how similar my symptoms are to all of yours. In my morning when I first wake up a feels nothing, then about an hour later a start to fell a little bit of tingly irritation all over my face and ears. As the day goes on I am more and more susceptible to flushing. My flushing is both progressive and random, it is stimulated by heat, anxiety, exercise, and when I am laying down it is at its worst and seems to be less intense when I am standing up. I use ice in my mouth, ac, and sometimes a spray bottle to control it. When my face is wet it seems to hold off the flushing with to me seems neurological. If I keep very cool like sit in the car with a ac on it does not happen at all. Every night it gets pretty bad and then it seems to reset it the morning. When I first started getting this I could simply lean over and my face would flush. The times that I have been sunburned while having this my facial flushing goes on roids so to speak and never goes away until the sunburn heals. The flushing tends to start where my face is scared from acne of snowboarding. If this is exactly what anyone has please let me know because I do agree with Lamarr that this is an inflammatory condition but I would like to find out if my case is different or everyone has the same exact symptoms as I do.

Lamarr, what does this drug do exactly and I know you believe that it is auto-immune but do you feel like the auto-immune disease effects our neurological systems? and y do you think our symptoms fluctuate so drastically throughout the day?

Lamarr, what about a immuno suppressant? If it is a auto-immune disease that should improve our condition.

Lamarr,

How long do you have to take the mepacrine? Is it something that you have to take long term or will it eventually cure the flushing?

hey guys

I was reading this post and your symptoms sound very similar if not exactly like mine.....

I was on minocycline for just over 8 months, it did the trick for my acne but a few weeks after i began i started noticing constant facial flushing. For as long as i've known i go red when embarrased but this was constant all the time. I put up with it, thinking it would go away but it never did and still hasnt.

i have only been off the minocycline for a month but am still on Diane 35 for my skin, and I have noticed i flush less, but the intensity hasnt reduced. Sometimes it hurts really badly and my face is a deep red, only on my cheeks and a little on my chin. My forehead is pale.

I went to see the derm and she diagnosed me with rosacea, but the metrocream hasnt done anything and i also had 6 IPL sessions which didnt help so I dont think it is rosacea.... My face is always a slight pink colour but not a persistent red.. First thing in the morning my whole face is normal colour......

I feel so strongly that the minocycline induced this flushing because of the timing I got it....

I havent found or really tried anything that works but am hoping it just needs time to wear off.....

I am not going back to my dermatologist because she is very hasty when i have an appointment, i dont think she has ever REALLY examined my skin.....

Has anyone found anything that works????

I understand how you all feel, its something I worry about every day

Matilda, do you also get this weird irritating tingling sometimes before you flush which almost lets you know you are about to and then other times the flushing just come full force with no warning at all?

Halfpipe, do me a favor as soon as you can get your growth hormone level checked.

I looked more closely into Mepacrine it doesn't alter the immune system it weakens it and because it is such a powerful anti-inflammatory everyone will probably feel some relief from it which does not necessarily mean that what we have is auto-immune. This is not a long term drug and although there are no sort term side effects the long term side effects look to be more severe then our flushing. However, this is just upon doing some reading and Lemarr seems to be very knowledgeable regarding this subject so i am on the fence but suppressing the immune system and masking the problem with an anti-inflammatory should be our last resort. We need to test our endocrine systems just to make sure so please get a growth hormone test to rule out an endocrine problem before you pursue this other drug. Halfpipe you too bro just give some blood it's that simply and please let me know because if you symptoms are exactly the same as mine we might be able to solve this problem more easily by finding commonalities in each other.

So what if it is low growth hormone level, what can you do about flushing then? I didn't get my growth hormone level checked, but I have a thyriod condition (I'm dutch and i have no clue what my condition is called in English, it's already pretty complicated) but my thyriod levels are ok (I just had them checked last week), so does mean my growth hormone level is fine too probably? I mean, if my thyriod is working properly, it should regulate my hormone levels ok right? Ofcourse hormones are also controlled by the brain, so I don't know anymore. Does anyone?

Jordan,

I don't know what you mean by tingling sensation. Mine is more of a tightness of the cheeks or stickyness, its hard to explain. My flushing does not progressively get worse throughout the day and is tied directly to stress and heat. I wouldn't say that I ever randomly flush and I don't know why, but my left cheek is definitely worse than my right cheek...

Elle, my thyroid glad is fine too, that does not mean that you do not have a growth hormone problem and the lack of growth hormone in our bodies could be cause a neuro-endocrine condition. Get your growth hormone level tested and let me know what it is asap. Don't give up hope I am convinced their is a cure we just all have to hang in there.

Well, I don't seem to have flushing as bad as most of you guys do, there can be days when I don't even flush at all, but those are always days that I'm just at home. I think it's wearing off a bit (I'm seven months post tane) but just because I'm scared too flush in social situations I flush. But those flushes most of the time only take 30 seconds. The longer flushes I only get from heat (well, most of the time, sometimes I flush for no reason at all).

Halfpipe101 let me know how the pills work for you and are you on anything else as well? Also while you are waiting get your growth hormone level checked and if you could get back to me soon that would be great.

Halfpipe101 thanks you the info. let know how the anti malarial goes for you and do you think that if this drug works it will be a permanent cure for us all because I feel like something that inhibits the immune system can not be a good long term medication, however I really do not know that much about it.
