Piercing scarred skin?

Hello

I have a few raised scars on my nose in the form of bumps, and I want to get my nose pierced...

Has anyone had this problem before?

I haven't gotten acne on my nose in years, but I have a few old scars that now look like little deformationblobs on the left side of my nose, and that is the side that I want to get pierced. I should probably get the right side done, but I don't want that side pierced.

To get it pierced or not to get it pierced?

I searched for this question, but I could not find anything on it. The only thing I found was people with nose piercings getting new scars/bumps after piercing.

I heard of people getting piercings where they had piercings before that had closed up and scarred, but not sure about acne scars...all I heard though was that it hurts a little more to get scar tissue pierced. Have you gone to a professional piercer and asked them about it?

Thanks. I will ask them. And it's okay with me if it hurts more.

The type of scar you would get from a piercing is different entirely from acne scars. Unless you're prone to get keloids (genetically) you can get a piercing anywhere. It is said to be more difficult to pierce through scars, but a goodpiercer will look at it and they'lllet you know your options.

Obviously, when you punch a hole in your body, there's gonna be a scar if you ever choose to take your piercing out. That's just the nature of the beast.
The other type of scar that can form around the fresh piercing is called "hypertrophic scar". It is a raised bump, not as noticeable as a keloid, andmostly goes away almost completely as the piercing heals. Some people get it some people don't. You can buy scar gels at the pharmacy (that's what I did with one of my piercings) and use them if you need.
