I just ordered a bunch of samples of mineral makeup because I think my liquid foundation may be clogging me.

no I have tried different mineral make up.. sheer cover bare minerals, colorescience and other brands . I also tried origins that make up was ok. right now I just ordered oxygenetix foundation read some reviews on it sounds good . its not a mineral make up , but its supposed to let ur skin breath and heal. some mineral make up like bare minerals made me break out more . I also thought that mineral make up was good for my skin .. : ( I guess it depends on the person .

Thanks for the reply. Have you heard of Alima or Meow Cosmetics? I have heard that Bare Minerals is not good because of the bismuth in it.

after i finished accutane i threw my liquid away and bought bare minerals. I use just a small real techniques brush instead of the BM brushes because they are made of horse hair (im allergic to horses) hah. Anyways i just spot conceal with it over scars. I dont go crazy anymore because i really dont get the point of makeup anymore.

I would love to throw my liquid away! Unfortunately bare minerals didn't work for me (it oxidized). Hopefully one of the samples I got will work! They're taking a long time to get here though. In the mean time I am not wearing foundation because I am almost positive my liquid is making me break out.

Yeah same- my face would actually look worse with it on- and even worse with it off. So like two months ago i was like okay chuckin the clown makeup. And i actually feel confortable going outside with nothing. I feel like a regular human

Hi Paigems,

I know this chain is slightly older but I was curious how the samples went for you and working with mineral makeup. I ordered a bunch from Alima and have been experimenting for the last couple of weeks how to apply it when on the regimen. The minerals just grab to the moisturizer so it feels like it works best when you wait almost 30 minutes after applying moisturizer in order to keep base and concealer application smooth.

I like the Alima because it is local (I live in Seattle and am from the Portland area) but the colors were slightly off (they have a great color section and sample program though). My skin does not itch like it did when I used the bareminerals and I can get decent coverage. I am going to try some additional samples and think if I want to keep with it from there. If I was in a rush, I would not be able to apply this easily with my acne scars and get decent coverage.

I have been using Cargo foundation (no breakouts) and originally makeup forever concealer (then cover FX when I found out makeup forever started testing on animals) and then Physicians Formula powder to set and also to retouch during the day. The Alima is much lighter and now that the regimen has mostly dissolved the active acne I am more comfortable showing much more natural skin.

Happy New Years everyone!

Best,

Hi Balletkitty66!

I have actually not tried my samples yet because I ordered colors that do not match me at all from both Alima and Meow. I always thought I was very cool toned, but I guess I am more neutral toned. When I get the new samples and try them I'll definitely let you know how they work for my skin. While waiting for the foundation samples, though, I tried silk powder from both meow and another mineral company called silk naturals and I broke out so badly so I guess I'm sensitive to silk. I don't think that's common though. I'm glad you're liking alima so far. I hope I will too!
