Hey guys I like all of y'all are trying to figure out the root cause of my acne. I think makeup may not be helping. I was wondering if y'all knew which ingredients to avoid in makeup products if you have acne prone skin ? If someone could provide me with a list of ingredients to avoid?

I use this E.L.F. Product that I think may be not helping my acne..the ingredients I will list below, are any of these ingredients harmful?

e.l.f. Studio Translucent Matifying Powder ingredients:

Talc, Mica, Zinc Stearate, Titanium Dioxide, Silica, Nylon-12, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dimethicone, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491 CI 77492)

The talc and dimethicone may not be helping - I know talc breaks me out. I use 'cosdna' to look up the ingredients in makeup, you can search most products and it'll tell you which ingredients could cause acne or irritate sensitive skin.

I used Elfs pressed powder while I was on accutane and was clear. It broke me out badly and nothing broke me out on accutane so I ditched the pressed powder and my acne cleared up, I'm not sure what it is that I reacted to but that cheap priced makeup was too good to be true, Now I am using all Clinique makeup and my face loves their products.

Makeup NEVER causes inflammatory acne. Shitty makeup with crap ingredients like mineral oil can however cause something called "Acne Cosmetica" which looks like this:

Those ingredients aren't bad on the comedogenic scale at all really but talc can cause bad breakouts for people who are sensitive to it. Try ELF's HD powder as it's base is silica and it is talc free.

Holy pope Francis- Non comedogenic is a word that should be burned off every product in the stores. The biggest organ that makes up a human is the skin and that organ is unique just like a like the prints that make up each of our palms. I will try to make it short and sweet- everyone has allergies, sensitivities to certain ingredients (even those labeled non comedogenic)- So to find out what product will work with ones particular skin- they have to start with themselves. Personally i know anything that contains oil, fragrance, extracts from bark among many other things, dont work with my skin. so no one but yourself can determine what works and what doesn't. The food, drug, and cosmetic act states its unlawful for a product to contain anything misleading to the customer- non comedogenic is misleading.
