I use Covergirl's fresh complexion pocket powder (pressed) as a foundation. I don't use it often, but when I do, I get tiny pimples where I applied it.
I rarely get pimples on my face (mainly my forehead) but I get small red bumps on my face too.
I don't have a brush or anything, I use the sponge. Should I wash it because I haven't at all?
Believe it or not, alot of noncomedegenic products still break people out. It's basically all about experimenting and finding what is best for your skin. It wouldn't hurt to buy a new sponge. You can get new sponges/puffs in the makeup section for cheap. They usually come in multi-packs.
It also wouldn't hurt to invest in a powder brush just for the sake of application. A great one is the ELF Studio flat top powder brush. It's like $3 bucks at Target and I love it.
any product can just put "non comodegnic" on the label. Im not sure why though because according to the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic act its unlawful to place anything that is misleading to the consumer on the label. To me i believe any product labeled non comodegnic is misleading- thats like saying a size 9 shoe fits everyone... when it actually doesnt. I cant state a product or reccommend you anything because what works for me, may not work for you. ofcourse from trial and error with products, I found that many covergirl products irritate my skin, and also smell like chemicals. Also many drug store as well as dept store beauty products contain mica - which from what i know is a ground up mineral or rock (dont take my word, im no scientist) but when ground and placed in these products can cause irritation. Now i have no idea, nor can i help you solve your issue at hand. This is just me rambling on- anyways, what other products are being used in your facial region?
-And with the sponge- washing would probably help- dunno, but i know at target they sell throw away cosmetic sponges (latex free) in the beauty section that i usally cut in half and use one side per day. I just dampen it so it increases in size and ring it out so little to no water is present. - Good luck
non-comedogenic products which primarily has non-comedogenic active ingredients.
(not that they couldnt have traces of otherwise).
but that doesnt mean u cant be intolerant to any one of the ingredients present.(which need nt be comedogenic).
so,yes u gotta check for urself.also, keep a track of what ingredients can break u out.
Im allergic to a lot of makeup. I cant use any type of foundation or powder. It causes bumps and blackheads for me.
The only thing that doesnt clog my pores is concealer. Which seems odd, it seems like that would clog more than anything but ive been using it for over ten years on all areas of my face with no trouble.
Avada is correct. Labels are very misleading and the FDA is often part of the problem. I also had trouble with cover girl years ago. Smells great but i think the fragrance in their powders is what caused irritation for me. Luckily, there are some great powders out there that are fragrance and preservative free. Dont give up, youll find one. like Avada said-lots of trial and error.
Maybe once or twice a year, i use a powder if my complexion really sucks on a particular day. Its studio gear if you want to give it a shot. This one doesnt cause anything but blackheads for me, but i have to use it everyday for that to happen. Once here and there causes no trouble for me.
Maybe you could try almay or neutrogena powders? I know some ladies that have decent luck with those. I hope you find one that works for you.
And its funny- many go to "all natural cosmetics" thinking it will solve their issues. When many individuals, like myself, are allergic to many ingredients in natural products (which makes me laugh). For instance in many cosmetics, and also in soaps/cleanser feverfew (is that how you spell it?) causes horrible irritation in my face. Also Mineral oil is found in many products that may not be good for some people (like me). Im also allergic to oranges- and one of my foundations that was somewhat all natural had orange extract in it! Ofcourse i found i was allergic to oranges from my allergist which helped me out a lot. But its all about being one with your own body because its unique, and unlike any other.
-also i found this out everytime i tried to use it- but i break out from SPF like really badly and it makes me sad because im as white as a corpse so i burn very easy, and on top of that im on accutane- and a month ago doxy so i had to be extra careful with what i do and did.
-And back to another topic many debate about with acne/breakouts is if diet actually has effects on ones complexion. For me, i see an improvement in my overall complexion and wellbeing when i limit my sugar intake. I in no way eat unhealthy, but ofcourse every now and then those cookies or candy look so damn good to just be left alone.
Another post of me just rambling. -good luck!
Avada! You sound just like me. Sooo many allergies to things I would never think I would be allergic to. I just tried a whole bunch of natural products because I wanted to get away from all the chemicals, but wow. My face was littered with rashes and bumps, acne and inflammation. Now that I'm back to all of my neutrogena products, it all went away and my skin is clear again. What a disaster.
For me it's sugary drinks-sierra mist and organic cherry juice....But I'm on day three of no pop and no juice. I've been drinking nothing but spearmint tea, blueberry tea, and mandarin orange zinger tea. Surprisingly, I'm doing well in spite of how much I love sierra mist (it's the carbonation I like) but hopefully I can keep this up.
Sorry to hear about the spf issue. What kinds have you used? Maybe we can all help find you one that might work? (hopefully)
Fireh-any luck with stopping the cover girl powder?
Hi guys Thanks for replying.
I only use foundation once in a while, like when I have a special occasion. Whenever i apply it I get bumps in hours xD.
Well, after i stop using it they went away and didn't come back, so obviously there is something in there that gives me the red bumps.
Lol, I'm only 14 and I never really used makeup in my life....that was the first foundation I ever got. I really can't get other kinds cause my mom doesn't really like it when i use makeup...so....
I've never had an allergic reaction to something I used on my face before. Maybe with food (I get this weird feeling when I eat walnuts, but not with other nuts, strangely)
Sounds like you have some of the same issues we all have. Make-up can irritate no matter what the label says unfortunately. But if you know what to stay away from, you're that much more informed.
Food reactions are weird. I can eat tomatoes, but touching the vine makes my hands itch...go figure!
I remember those days when i started with makeup, actually around 14!
If you are so keen on wearing something light on your face- maybe talk with your parents about it? I know i talked to my mom about the subject, saying my complexion was hurting my confidence making me very sad in school.
I dont know what will work with you, i know clinique worked well (Forumla wise) for me. The only negative i have found this the brand is the color selection for those with a fair tone - corpse tone- complexion may have trouble. And they have counters in macys, sephora, (not ulta i believe). Anyways if you still want to find something for you that wont cause irritation, testing the product (and getting samples from the clinique counter) may help. Although drugstore brands are well priced, and they have a bunch of products that are great- its impossible to test products- Unless bought usually from Target which allows returns on opened products.
FYI- Clinique is a good brand, but when you talk to the employees at the counter do not get sucked into any other product they are trying to force on you to buy. Every though that happens when you talk to any individual in sales. Just be aware.
Good Luck!
Please explain the logic behind your statement. When I use foundation or powder, my face is mess. My skin is crystal clear when I don't. If it's solely hormonal, then how is it possible that i have zero acne? (Please note-I'm on this site for oily skin. I have no acne.)
All acne is hormonal. It can not exist without the excess quantity of sebum. Are you sure what you're experiencing is acne and not some kind of facial dermatitis from a reaction to the cosmetics? dermatitis can look a lot like acne:
