Hi, I have had acne for twenty five years and pritty much used every acne product going, from antibiotics to over the counter face washes. I am not saying these don't always work but mainly only give you a period of relief and the acne returns. With having acne for so long, I decided I'd had enough worrying about my skin and stopped using products, I also noticed after a hot shower or bath my skin would feel clean, but very quickly my skin would get greasy and new spots would develop. So I wondered what if it is water causing my acne, for a few days I stopped washing my face and noticed a slight improvement but still the skin felt sore and new spots arrived. I then decided to use a baby wipe product called water wipes, I use daily and wipe my face gently and never wash my face in the sink, shower or bath, I also only bath in warm water for a short period to stop the hot steam effecting my skin and within days my skin started to clear, its a simple cheap way to help or clear your acne and the only explanation is water washes away your skins layer of protection and also dries the skin, hot water especially. Hopefully it works for most, but it did for me.
This is very similar to what finally worked for me a few years ago (around age 45). I had spent 25 years fighting adult acne and tried everything short of Acutane. I had a decent routine with washing and moisturizing twice a day but the really big ones would still pop up a few times a month.
I read about the "caveman method" and decided I had nothing to loose. So I just stopped using anything on my face at all. Only water briefly in the shower once a day. There was a strange transition period for a few weeks while my skin got used to it...but then the acne has been 95% better since then.
I honestly think the cleansing was washing away whatever my body needed to naturally deal with whatever was causing my acne. It also allowed me to focus much less on my face (not touching it while washing and feeling new bumps etc) so that when a random one did show up it was just less worrying. (since I hadn't felt it the day before and started stressing).
All that said I don't know if this is the right solution for everyone. But I have heard it work on enough people that I would recommend giving it a try - it is free, after all.
