Hi,

I am 31 years old (Indian origin). I have had clear skin all my life, until last year in September 2017. I started breaking out acne all across my jawline, chin and cheeks. A visit to the DERM and they put me on Doxycycline saying that i had hormonal imbalances. I took it for 4 months but my acne reduced only little bit and never cleared up completely. Once i stopped taking doxycycline, my face started breaking out again and this time much more badly including the forehead. I tired all OTC treatments like benzoyl peroxide and even stopped eating dairy completely. But nothing worked. I still continue to breakout badly with no respite.

I made a second visit to DERM today and she prescribed meamoxicillin 500mg(twice a day) with food. I don't know if this will work or not? She told me that this will be a life long battle.

I am really depressed and frustrated with acne breakouts. I don't feel like going anywhere out including office or meeting friends as my face is completely covered with marks, scares and acne(old and new).

Please help -- If anyone has faced the same issue and got cured of severe adult acne.

No one in my family has had severe or moderate acne before.

Also, I don't want to go on any medicines/orals/topicals that are not pregnant friendly, since i am trying to conceive as well.

Hello!

I'm 45 and went through several months of female health issues last fall. This caused a major hormonal imbalance and I developed the same kind of hormonal acne that you have. It's awful! It was staying in the same area, left side of my face... jawline and going up toward my cheekbone only. After I broke my ankle about 2 1/2 months ago and had a stay in the hospital, it seems the stress and medication I took for a week or so escalated my acne. I now have it over most of the left side of my face, some on my right cheekbone and on my forehead. I am also almost covered with red marks from the pimples and bumps that have appeared.

I try to do everything I can in life in the most natural way possible. I do not take medication, unless mandatory, as I did when I had surgery. After much research, I came across similar recommendations on many blogs and natural health sites. For immediate relief from the breakouts and irritation with intense itchiness I experience, I ordered a holistic topical from Amoils called H-Acne. They only sell direct, online. There are usually coupons on their site and free shipping over a certain amount, so I buy the large bottle now, since it goes quickly, even with only a couple of drops per day. The tea tree oil and other essential oils in it are soothing and quick-healing. Just be sure to not use too much after the first few days, as it's a natural astringent and will start to dry your skin. I use an oil-mattifying face moisturizer by Acure twice a day.

As far as healing it for good, a high quality probiotic seems to be the best solution. I have been taking one for 4 almost 4 weeks. Most of my face has started to heal and the amount of new pimples has lessened by at least 90%. A few weeks ago, my skin texture was very lumpy and bumpy. As I feel it now, it's completely smooth except for a few very small dots where there were more recent pimples. I know exactly how you feel about not wanting to leave the house. At least now, I can dust a light amount of my mineral base powder on and it's almost completely unnoticeable. If you do a search for soil-based probiotics, you will probably find the one I did. It's a woman's name. She also recommends a completely vegan diet. I have gone to a pescetarian diet, as there are many beneficial nutrients in fish and I'm not ready to go vegan.

So, with the holistic acne topical, the soil based probiotic and the oil mattifying moisturizer, I am finding balance and hope to be acne and scar free within a couple of months. I hope this helps and I hope you start healing too!

Annemarie

I've been struggling with acne since I was 13 years old (I'm now 27). You name it, I've tried it....basically nothing worked and made it worse (Pro-Activ worked during my teens, but once I hit my early 20's, it stopped)

I use Rodan + Fields Unblemish line. I swear by it so much that I became a consultant to spread the word and help other people dealing with acne. It's for cystic acne too (I was waking up with 1-2 new cysts every single morning, my face was in so much pain, I was depressed, hated looking in the mirror) . I highly recommend Unblemish. The best part is, if you are not satisfied with your results, there is a 60 day empty bottle money back guarantee. Can't hurt to try!
If you want to check out my site, I've listed it at the bottom. If you have any questions, please let me know - I'd be more than happy to help!
