Hi, I'm a 20yr old adult with moderate to severe acne. For the last 5-7 years of my life my acne has gotten worse. Most often I find acne on my upper cheeks as well as chin. As of late it's become what I believe to be cystic acne (hard pimples that never fully come to the surface of the skin). Most often if popping or touching face pimples will have puss but also blood. I've tried many over the counter products. To my understanding birth control seeks to help most people but I'm not too sure id like the other side effects. Anyone have any recommendations or any reasoning to why adult acne often occurs in the areas mentioned above?

best regards,
young raisin

I sympathise with your plight...my acne was bad right through my teens and I was 20 before seeking help from a dermatologist.  Having tried all the antibiotics, Accutane was my only real option at that stage and it worked for me.  Your best bet might be to give birth control a try for a while.  The drug information always contains long lists of possible side effects but a lot of people never experience any and there are usually a few different options to try.  You can stop taking it if you experience a side effect that you find untenable and your doctor may be able to suggest an alternative product.
Best of luck :comfort:
