Hello everyone
First of all I want to let you know that my English is far from perfect, (Arabic is my first language) so you might want to do more effort to understand what I'm saying !
I've been struggling with acne since I was 19 years old, at first it was some whiteheads here and there, it was getting worse day after another, but it was a lot better than the last 2 years when I was getting those big disgusting Cystic Acne that leave big scars that take about a year to fade away ( not completely anyway ), I thought it was because I don't wash my face enough, after that I was washing my face 3-4 times a day with soap anti bacteria but it dried my skin a lot and it didn't get ride of my acne anyway, and finally I've read somewhere on the internet that diet have a direct relation with acne, and that was the KEY ! I started a clear diet months ago, at first after 3 weeks or so I didn't notice a lot of improvement and I almost lost hope, but I resisted for about a month, and after that my acne just disapeared like magic ! 'cause in fact, pimple take about 3-4 weeks to show up, so I had to wait for about a month to see the real effect of my clean diet, and it really worked when nothing else did, and before I was getting new pimples every single day. And in addition of my diet I wash my face just once a day at night gently with "Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash" just to make sure I get ride of dead skin and dirt after a long day.
So now I will tell you some details about my diet, the things that I avoid and the things that I eat :
Things that I avoid :
- Dairy, completely ( 'cause when I drink even half a cup of milk or eat a small part of cheese, I get cyctic acne the next day, and especially butter, cause it really fu** up my face completely )
- Junk food ( french fries... and Mcdonalds sh*t )
- Fried food
- Sugar
- Processed carbs
Things that I eat :
- Fresh Vegetables
- Meat ( all sorts of meat, not fried )
- Fish ( not fried, not canned )
- Fresh Fruits
- Olive oil
- Green Tea
- Whole bread
- Eggs
and with my clean diet I can even cheat a little bit, I can eat cookies, some sweet things... ( without butter in it.. )
Things that can help :
- Lemon juice with honey mask, you can apply it everyday for about 20min and then clean your face with water, or with your cleanser.
Tips : You should eat a lot of vegetables, fish, fruit and healthy fats 'cause they are the source of many vitamins that are very important for the skin, that can help greatly to prevent breakouts and to heal your skin from existing acne, here is a list of some vitamins that you should eat every single day :
- Vitamine A (Carrots, Dark leafy greens, tomato ..)
- Vitamine B2 ( Almonds, Eggs, Oranges, soybeans ..)
- Vitamine E (Nuts, Fish, olive oil ..)
- Lipoic Acid ( Potato, meat..)
- Zinc (Soybeans, Green beans ...)
- Magnesium (Beans and Lentils, Soybeans, Fish, Tomato..)
- Selenium ( Fish, Sardine, Turkey, Eggs..)
- Chromium : ( Broccoli, Apple, Oranges..)
- Calcium : very important for your body and your face, especially if you don't eat Dairy ( Sardine with bones, Dried figs, Sesame Seeds, Orange Juice..)
Voila, I wrote this list in a Note for me too after a lot of research, and it really work!
Another thing that is very important, don't eat a lot of sugar & sweet things cuz it can really hurt your skin, and even when you eat fruit ( Fruit contain a fair amount of sugar ) try to eat some healthy fats with it to minimize the impact of sugar on your body, so it will be less likely to cause any pimple at all. ( I'm not an expert but I've read this somewhere on the internet and I think it works ).
- For example, I prepare a plate of salade with all the vegetables I need, and I add to it 3-4 spoons of Olive oil which is a very healthy fat for your body and your skin ! and I eat my vegetables at the same time with Fruits, And everytime I eat a sweet things I eat with it a little of oilve oil just in case x) but anyway I try to avoid Sugar as possible.
So this is it I really wanted to share with you my story, cuz I really struggled with Acne and especially Cystic Acne which is the worse ! I hope it will work for you too, And I'm sure if it didn't cure your Acne completly it will greatly reduce it !

Edit : I want to let you know that I have an oily skin, maybe too oily, Many people think that oily skin is a curse that cause breakout and cannot be fixed, and I was one of them, but if you want to change your life and get a better skin, you should do some effort.
Here is some other things that I forgot, You shoud :
- Get enough sleep at night
- Drink enough water after or before eating by 1 hour ( about 8 glass of water a day )
- Prevent stress, or greatly reduce it by some non intense workout ( about 20min ) and don't forget to wash the sweat of your face just after that.( I wash my face before and after exercice, just with water )
- Wash your hair, especially if you have greasy hair like me, I wash it every 2 days, and change your pillow every 3 days or so.. and do the same thing with your towel.
And when I get some whiteheads when I do something wrong and I want to pop it out, I clean the affected area with anti bacteria soap, I squeeze and pop the pimple then I clean the area again, and I don't touch it the hole day. or else I will get a Cystic Acne after a while in the same place if I don't clean the area well.
Conclusion of my experience : Healthy lifestyle = Healthy skin
