Accutane Wasn't A Cure

I'm 25 yo male. My Accutane course ended two weeks ago. My total dose was 105 mg/kg.
BEFORE Accutane I had severe acne on my back and from mild to moderate acne on my face with a few occacional cysts on my chin/jaw. Usually my face cleared within days and most of the time I was completely clear.
AFTER Accutane the acne on my back is completely gone. However, the acne on my face is the same. Though I haven't got any cysts on my jaw area (yet). Plus I have got lots of whiteheads (90% of them are tiny) on places I haven't had acne before.
What can I do for this? I have tried to eat healthy. Before Accutane I tried Epiduo, but it didn't do much. Though my acne is not severe I hate the scars I'm getting very easily. All I know is that masturbation increases my acne but is not the only cause.
P.S. How do you know if you have acne or some sort of folliculitis?

I have the exact situation as you have. It's like I would have written that first post. I'm very interested in finding the answer as well.

If masturbation increases your acne, then look into the role that DHT (dihydrotestosterone) plays in the formation of acne.

I've read your thread actually which is very good. I'm wondering if there're any proof that those supplements like beta sitosterol are safe when taken long term.

I've read your thread actually which is very good. I'm wondering if there're any proof that those supplements like beta sitosterol are safe when taken long term.

Men who have balding issues (also related to DHT when combined with a certain genetic predisposition) take Propecia, which drastically lowers DHT far more than anything you can get over the counter such as saw palmetto.

Saw palmetto is also frequently used long-term in men who have prostate issues.

Extracts of saw palmetto block 5-alpha-reductase, reduce DHT uptake by follicles, and block binding of DHT to androgen receptors. The liposterolic extract of saw palmetto combined with beta-sitosterol (a phytosterol common to many plants and grains) produced marked improvement.35

The nice thing about something like saw palmetto is that it blocks BINDING of DHT. It doesn't actually change your androgen production rate. As soon as you stop taking it, your hormones will quickly return to whatever they were before. So if you don't like how you feel on saw palmetto, you can just stop taking it, no harm done.

This is why I must continue to take spironolactone, which also blocks binding of androgens, because after about a week off, my hormones bounce back and I break out again. There was an eight year study done showing the spironolactone was safe for long-term usage. As it is much more potent than saw palmetto, I think you should be just fine.

Just so you know, Accutane is actually a weak anti-androgen. So it does block some testosterone while it is in your system...all these men afraid of saw palmetto and then they go on Accutane anyway.

I also suffered a relapse after my last accutane course. I am now on The Regimen going on 6 month and acne is controlled. Look into it if you haven't yet. Also, even though you've tried the diet route it may help to do some juicing and reduce or elimante common triggers such as gluten and dairy

This happened to me. I think this is very common.

You won't be able to know if it is folliculitis unless you begin treatment for folliculitis. There might be a possible way to get tested, but what could be easier is following a holistic treatment protocol and noting any changes.

Where can I find a good holistic treatment protocol? I might try it!
