I don't know what to do for my skin at this point. I have tried everything. Finally, for the past month I have decided to stop wearing make up. My skin seems to react horribly to anything I put on it topically...it either a) breaks out worse b) starts peeling and burning like crazy c) becomes itchy and swollen ...so I saw something about the water only method which is supposed to restore the PH of the skin. So I have been doing this for a little over a month now. At first things seemed to be going well. My skin isn't oily at all any more...which looks so much better. My forehead is completely clear too. However...I am breaking out worse than I have in a long time on my cheeks. I don't know what to do anymore. Should I keep using only water? Will it get better if I stick it out? If I start using some sort of product again will my skin become oily again? I also don't eat dairy, avoid sugars, eat all natural, and drink lots of green tea and lemon water. I am starting to get really depressed. I don't feel like going to a dermatologist because after spending years upon years of going to several...I was never helped. I have some serious health issues as well. My doctor wants me to go to a specialist because he believes I have a thyroid disorder...could this be the source of my acne? I really need some sort of advice on what to put on my skin. I tried the acne.org regimen...it also didn't work. I do like the cleanser and moisturizer though. Any tips will be greatly appreciated, thanks. :/

Search the forums for "hormones" and "acne"

Many many women find the ONLY way they can get clear is via hormonal treatment. Usually this means birth control pills. But there are other options. I use spironolactone. Some have gotten clear with over-the-counter progesterone oil.

Hello,

I am new to this website and just found this post. I should tell you I am in the middle of the exact same thing as you. I am on day 26 I think of the water only regimen. For five days in there, I went without any water and my face broke out even more. I still haven't cracked and gone back to soap but my cheeks look TERRIBLE. There are whiteheads and little red spots everywhere. I feel like I can't leave the house sometimes. It's really difficult to get through. I have been posting some stuff trying to find out if anyone went through this. I'm glad to hear you are having the same issue. It's two weeks past when you posted so I'm curious how you are doing.

I honestly cringe every time in the mirror and just keep wondering when I will finally crack and use something.

Hope you are well!
