I started on 10mg Accutane October 31st and started 30mg 6 days ago so I'm currently on day 35 of accutane and my face looks HORRIBLE.

It looks sunburnt literally it looks like when I would go to Cuba and get burnt and covering it with make up gives it such an uneven, bad texture :( I'm still waking up with new pimples and I'm getting so frustrated I know its still early but it just looks so bad. My lips have also started to get way drier but my face is matte not super dry no oil at all though

I'm the same! I'm on day 45 and my skin is awful - like worse than what I started with and I wake up every morning with more painful zits and visibly noticeable whiteheads :( and it's all in places I never really broke out before! I'm on 30mg a day so far, but really minimal side effects too minus kinda dry lips (but not even that bad). Maybe our dosages are too low?

youre still pretty early on in treatment. i would reduce to 10-20 mg

theres a helpful thread on here about low dose accutane 10 mg

also studies on low dose 10-20 mg daily being just as effective with minimal sides if any at all. no decent derm should be prescribing more than 20 mg daily with the information out there. just 2 of many studies i found googling:

10 mg daily
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jocd.12268/abstract
150 patients were given 10mg daily isotretinoin until a cumulative dose of 90110mg/kg.
The mean age was 26.6years with 64.7% moderate acne, 29.3% severe, and 6% very severe. The mean cumulative dose was 98.86.05mg/kg. All 150 patients had total clearance with a mean time to clearance of 24.0weeks. Patients with severe/very severe acne had higher cumulative dosage (102.1vs. 97.0,P<0.001) and longer duration to clearance (32.9weeksvs. 19.1weeks,P<0.001). Mild relapse was seen in 4%. The mean time to relapse was 32.3weeks. Lip dryness was the commonest side effects (100%). Mild transient elevation of liver enzymes was detected in 3.3% and a slight increase of serum lipid in 2.7% with no treatment discontinuation.

20 mg daily
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4009746/
At the end of treatment course, (96.4%) demonstrated complete clearing of their acne, defined as no acne or occasional isolated lesions. In 5-year follow-up, relapse accrued in 11 (7.9%) of patients. All adverse effects were mild, and discontinuation of treatment was not necessary.

I'm on 30mg a day and still barely experiencing side effects... I've been breaking out since the second week worse than my acne was before! Is this normal/is there anything i can do about it?

some derms prescribe cortisone cream with accutane for the initial breakout. outside of that ..topical niacinamide, daily sauna/face steaming (can be done at home if cant access sauna) may help. cut out shit junk food.i dont know what else

i was on 40 mg a year ago. going tosee a new derm today and try 10-20/day to see how i go.
