Hello everyone,

So I have been contemplating if i should take the plunge and take accutane, i've been so terrified to take it due to all the horror stories i've read online. So my background is somewhat similar as to almost everyone else, been dealing with on and off acne for around 10 years and this year was when i had enough. I always have managed to keep my acne under control with bp. However, just last year around this time in May i began to develop cystic/nodular acne on my chin and i had no relief until i went to my derm in june of last year who prescribed me cefadroxil for 2 months, that did help but i was still breaking out. Anyway, earlier this year i underwent through a stressful time, and once i finished with finals back in April, i broke out like crazzzyyy, a breakout that i never experienced before all along my chin and on my left cheek, it was so bad that i did not leave my house for like 3 weeks. it has gotten better now, i've been using the acne.org's bp so not sure if it was that that's helping or the fact that i was on amoxicillin for 7 days due to strep throat.

Alright so, I am tired of not being able to leave my house without makeup and not being able to stare at people in the eye. I have decided to take the plunge with Accutane. Today is my first day i took my pill. I literally ate a whole avocado with it lol. I am taking 40 mg (i weigh 100 pounds so maybe ill be asking my derm to increase it to 60 if all goes well down the road) for 6 months. I'll be updating weekly to monitor my progress. Wish me luck!
