OK so is is probably a great problem to have but I'm getting a little worried all the same.. I've basically got no side effects.. I've had some dry skin and lips but nothing major and had dry eyes but they're fine now and a couple days of pains in limbs that lasted few seconds. Every time I think ok side effects are starting they seem to kinda go. I know this is good but now I'm worrying it's not going to work!! Been on it 6 weeks now. 20mg/day for first 4 weeks 40 fr last two. I broke out badly after moving to 40 amd skin is awfulso I guess it must be doing its thing. I think I'm getting inpatient now but just curious if others had or havingsimilar experience as most people seem to have extreme dryness etc really surprised that at 6 weeks I'm still fine. I'm only 48 kg too so 40mg is actually a pretty high dose for me
Check my log, same boat as you are. Broke out when I started the medicine, not bad, but not mild either and I'm having mild side effects as well, but I can totally see my skin healing and I'm not breaking out anymore. My derm said 40mg+ is when side effects really start to get more intense, but then again, we react different to this medicine and not everyone might get really bad side effects, no matter of the dosage. And one more thing, what some call "extreme dryness", you might call it "pretty dry", we tolerate things differently best of luck!
Hey thank Andrei! Good to know I'm not talking to myself
Your side effects sound v similar to mine - totally manageable and they seem to go quickly!
Today I notice my recent breakout is starting to dry up so that's good ! Hope it continues and this is the start of skin improving. I wont get hopes up though, it's still pretty bad!! Don't think my skin is done purging..! Biggest fear is that this wont work, imagine!! Id rather all the side effects and it work!
Hey so I'm on month 4 of my accutane treatment. I am 48kg Female also and I started my first two months with 20 mg because the first month I was experiencing nausea and my derm wasn't comfortable increasing my dose. At month 3 she gave me 40mg once a day and all my side affects were gone. They pretty much went away after the first month. I didn't experience anything really than nausea in my first month and some dry lips. I barely had dry skin but that might be cause I was super oily and have huge pores prior to my treatment. So now I'm on month 4 and my derm put me on 60mg once a day. It's been a week since and now I'm experiencing dryness on my face but other than that I'm okay. I am just hoping that I'll see full results by the time I'm off this medication. I haven't seen much improvement from month 1 to now other than smoother skin. I would say my skin is 30% better. I'm hoping the 60 will make a greater difference!
Hey thanks for reply! Just saw this. Good to hear from another small female!! Sounds like yourehaving a similiarexperience to me. Although just today I really see an improvement in skin. It's smoother and the spots I got duringIB are now v small and flat. Hope this continues!! Still a longway to go but it's definitely the bestmy skin has looked in weeks. So hard to be patient. I think my Derm wants to keepme on 40 due to size but will see I guess. Best of luck x
Honestly, if you're not having any crazy side effects, I would ask to bump up to 60 mg. You'll be done quicker and the increase from 40 to 60 was totally tolerable for me. You can always back down to 40 if its too much. I just take 3 20mg pills at once at night and then go to bed. My derm asked me if I wanted to stay or to be increased and I said bump me right up. Everyone is different though so if the 40 is fine then just stick with it! Did your derm tell you how much cumulative dose you are going to need? Or how long you will be on the 40mg for?
Hey, no she didn't actuallybut looked it up and I've worked out I'll finish mid April based on my weight if I stick on this dose. It's tempting to go up to 60 but we'llsee how it goes I guess. Will see what dermathinks next month. It would be great to be done earlier but not having side effects is brill!! mad to think this will all be done in a few months and skin should be clear. Yay. Friend of mine didn't start clearinguntil month 5, she was on 20 then 40 for a total of 9 months!
