Week 34:Second week on 10mg/day, things are still going smooth. The only annoying thing I get, 3-4 days after I use my beard trimmer, are these red bumps (5-6), that go away in a few days. Don't know if it's from the trimmer, or maybe I'm doing it wrong. The thing is I don't get them right away, but after 3-4 days or something. I will try to wash my face with warm water for a couple of minutes before the trimming and then wash with cold water after that, just as I would do if I was shaving. If anyone has any tips, please let me know. Good luck to all of you!
9 months completed: Fwiw, I've been counting the months as 4 weeks and not 30 days, so that's actually ~8 and a half months. So far I've taken 5960 mg of Roaccutane. Spoke to my derm and I'll take 10mg/day for another month, then she'll decide if she keeps me on the medicine or not. The problem is that I started the course with 63 kg and now I'm at like 74 kg, couldn't lose weight due to bad schedule and laziness, but I'll have more free time in a few weeks. Things are going smooth, face looking better and better, almost 7 months with no cysts. My face and scars are actually looking better than I thought, took a photo in a studio, with bright light, and I thought it would look much worse, but absolutely not. Will probably take another one in a few weeks and I'll post it here. Those damn car tinted windows are the devil, my scars look horrible in those. I also got SPF 50+ cream, but I try to stay away from the Sun as much as possible. Good luck to all of you!
10 months completed:I've taken a total of 6270 mg of Roaccutane, at an average weight of 68.5 kg. Things are still going smooth, nothing to complain about my course so far. No papules, cysts, nodules etc. for almost 8 months now. My derm told me to take 10mg/every other day (started yesterday) for a month, then she'll decide if I keep on taking the medicine. Best of luck to all of you!
11 months completed:I've taken a total of 6420 mg of Roaccutane. Spoke to my derm and she wants to get me to 6900 mg (100mg/kg), so I'll have to take another 48 pills, 1 every other day and that would be the end of my course. No papules, cysts, nodules etc. for almost 9 months now, my body has been tolerating the medicine really well, I'm not bothered by any side effect. Would have finished my course earlier, but I gained 13 kg since I started the course, trying to lose weight atm so I will probably go over 100mg/kg anyway. Good luck to all of you!
Hey andrei, just wondering if lowering to 10mg/day changed anything in terms of the drugs effectiveness? I'm lowering to 10mg/day for the next 10 days due to a delayed appointment with my derm, and I don't want to ruin the progress I've had so far. @ 20mg a day i'm noticing a huge reduction in oil as well as my blackheads/seb filaments literally extracting themselves. Thanks a lot

I didn't notice anything, but I was taking the medicine for 8 months when I dropped to 10mg/day. If I were you, I would take 20mg/day and then stop taking the medicine until you go to your derm, rather than lowering yourself the dosage. I once took a 7 days break from the medicine and my derm said it was no problem.
I took that break from the medicine 2 months into my course btw, don't know if/how important that is, but my derm said it was fine.
1 year and 1 month completed:Total: 6740 mg of Roaccutane, I have to take 16 pills more. My derm told me not to quit the medicine cold turkey, so I will take 8 pills every other day, 2 pills every 2 days, 2 pills every 3 days, 2 pills every 4 days and the last 2 pills every 5 days. Nopapules, cysts, nodules etc. for almost 11 months now, I'm not bothered by the medicine at all, I'm feeling great. Good luck to all of you!
Happy new year! I'm going to take the last pill today, 1 year and 3 months completed, 6900 mg of Roaccutane, so 100mg/kg. No papules, nodules, cysts etc. for more than a year now, my course has been fantastic, I haven't been bothered by the medicine at all. Hopefully my face remains clear. Got a derm appointment in 2 months, and 3 months total until I can start laser treatment for my scars. My scars are barely noticeable for 5-6 hours after I wake up, but afterwards they look pretty bad. Best of luck to all of you!

My scars improved, but just a little bit. My derm said my scars and red marks will improve even more now that I'm finished with the treatment, but still, they look pretty bad 6-7 hours after I've woken up and my skin is not puffy/swollen anymore. I'll try to post some pictures taken in the evening and morning as well.
Here are some photos of my scars, day and night. My scars start to look worse like 8 hours after I wake up. The quality of the photos is pretty bad, I also have some rolling scars on my cheeks, they look pretty bad at night. If I can fix them to look something like 30-50% better with laser or w/e, I'll be happy. I'm still super grateful I don't have acne anymore, my face has never been so clear for such a long period of time in the last 6 years or so.

4 months post Accutane update: things go smooth as always, my face is the same as it was while I was taking Accutane. Went to my derm to discuss about my scars, she advised me it would be better to start the laser treatment in the autumn, when there won't be as sunny outside. So I'll probably go in September. Good luck to all of you!
Bit late to respond to your shaving query I know but have you considered dumping the trimmers and sart shaving with blades?
I switched from blades to trimmers a year or so ago thinking it would cause less irritation. But in actual fact the reverse was true. I am having much better results shaving with a mach3 every 2 or 3 days. I found a good routine on the net (similar to Dan's) and no post shave bumps or spots so far. I do my head the same way but that may be to extreme for some.

thanks man, but I don't like to shave also, I haven't gotten any bumps/ingrown hairs after trimming my beard for months now, it's going good there as well
thanks though
