I made the same mistake getting my eyebrows waxed while on Accutane. I used a scar gel and that helped them heal (if she removed skin).

You'll notice a lot of a breaking out and clearing up about the first 2 months. I didn't have a single break out after that. I liked to think of it as the more pimples I got the more it was pushing out and I wouldn't have to deal with later on in the course.

As for your nose bleeds, as gross as it is, I used vaseline or aquaphor on a q-tip inside my nose during the night to combat the dryness. Also a humidifier in your room/where you sleep may help in these winter months.

Hey blabla05 ....

Sorry for responding SO late. Holidays and all had me pretty much occupied.

So how has it been so far?

I keep getting breakouts that just don't want to stop ;-( This time around on accutane is SO much different than my first shot at it. It's kind of weird but I'm still hanging on.

I stuck with accutane honestly and found another doc that I will make an apnt with asap. He's kinda far away so I have to make time to go.

How was your Christmas and new years day? Hope you had a good time.

I saw your recent pic! I think it looks pretty good!

So you did get your IB eh? yup its a sucker. BUT hang in there!

Hope all is well, and sorry for being so late again.

Take care

Hey blabla05! Hang in there! I'm on day 33 (or 35 if you count the days I went without pills after the first month) and I am still getting new spots... Its not as bad as my initial IB, which got bad quickly then took forever to fade somewhat... It looks like you are much further along than I was when mine started (day 8). I just kept telling myself during the worst of it, this is a good thing and now my skin is starting to calm down and change. It still looks bad but in a more manageable way if that makes sense. I have acne that scabs over really bad and the scabs are 95% gone now, but the active spots and larger cysts are still there. I've had cortisone shots, but they don't help much, only with small ones.

Myresults_xnow's comment seems to be pretty accurate cause this is the beginning of my second month and I'm still going through the cycles of break out then get better than break out again, but each new breakout is not as bad as the earlier ones, so that gives me some hope!

Good luck! I'm sure the journey will be well worth the wait in the end. ;)

Yea probably, I basis a lot had a bunch if random spots pop up all over my face, even where I don't normally get acne and they were all angry. Took two/ three weeks to subside and now I'm pretty much back where I started. I'm only on 20mg though, so it could get a lot worse in month three for me.

I know how it feels blabla05! You will see for the first few months that you take one step forward then three steps back. I'm still getting breakouts and I'm on my eighth week :-( I have the same issue like Brownilocks. I break out, then get better for a few days, then get a break out again. It's this continuous cycle. But try to focus on how each break out looks, and how long it lasts. I've noticed that my breakout clears with in the week where as before it'll take a month to clear up. So some, even though little, improvement. It takes time but it should hopefully work for both of us. We just gotta wait it out.

Good luck!

Yeah blabla! I'm the same! My face was majorly oily before! Like it always looked wet no matter what I did or tried (and believe me I tried every product out there to help with it). My hair used to look wet and feel oily daily too, but now I only have to wash it like every 3 days or so unless I work out. I agree that the change is a very welcome one and would also be interested to know if it will stay that way. You would think so since accutane is supposed to supress sebum production and/or shrink sweat glands, right? I'm interested to see what you find out and/or if others have had luck in remaining drier after ending treatment!..

I'm loving the fact my hair never gets oily. my skin actually feels normal, and i never ever want it to go back the way it was!!! My skin isnt even dry, its actually perfect! Hmmm... would love it to be like this permanently!! I did a quick good search. however, many people say oil production usually returns.. ;(

*hugs* I know how you're feeling...the only reason my skin is starting to clear up is because of the antibiotics. But now some of the bigger zits are coming back, so it was short lived. :(

Hey everyone,

So I finally went to a new derm today and she upped my accutane dose and told me not to take those antibiotics. I will now be taking 40mg per day instead of the 20. I'm bracing myself because I know I'm going to be breaking out like crazy for a while again (sigh). I'm still pretty bad on my face too and I've been on 20mg for eight weeks today and will start my ninth week tomorrow. SO I understand how everyone is feeling.

OH and this is my second try at accutane so I will say to y'all that YES the oil does come back. You'll feel it more on your hair than your face. So unfortunately its a temporary things that you're experiencing now. Sorry to burst your buttons.

Blabla05, you might want to ask your derm to give you something that will help with the acne marks. Something that'll help them fade. That's what this new derm of mine did. Its very mild and she recommends it. I'm not sure if you'll have it where you are but its called hyseac A.I. Its from France. It's a bit pricey but I got it because I really want this stuff off of my face. But I don't think it'll hurt to ask. Also, remember accutane does take a while and what it's effective for is getting rid of and preventing future acne. The marks that you see that aren't really pimples are something that is part of the process. But think about it, its better than an infected pimple, right?!

I agree with BMarieWantsNoAcne that you really need to try not to focus too much in the mirror. I'm trying my hardest to stick with that, and its a challenge, but at the end of the day it makes me feel less stressed out on how my face looks.

Brownilocks, how's your acne coming along? Any improvement besides no oily face?

I hope this new dosage helps kick this stuff off my face! Fingers crossed!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!

You think your increase will make it that much worse? I'll be on 8 weeks of 20 too when I go back and I really need a bump up because my face is in a standstill. No new breakouts but everything is soooo slow to heal. I was hoping for a bit more other than flaking skin at this point!

Blabla05, you're going through exactly what I went through. So I feel your pain, I REALLY do! I know it just feels REALY bad that you see absolutely NO progress. I am only assuming that I'll have another big break out because of the increased dose, but I could be totally wrong since I have been on 20mg for 8 weeks already. But I'll keep you posted on my progress as the days go by.

We BOTH have to remember that accutane is a process and each one of us will experience different things. NO ONE really sees great results quickly and if they do they're just really lucky and THEY are the exception not US.

I'll tell you some tips that I've been doing:

1) Stick to your cleaning routine and what ever you use for your face don't change even one thing

2) What ever you do, don't look at the mirror.

3) Keep yourself occupied with other things. Work, schooling, cooking, reading, what ever you like. It'll help keep you mind off of your face AND boost your mood. Sometimes Acne is triggered by stress. And stressing over our acne is not good.

4) If you have questions or concerns, ASK your derm. Sometimes they're the only ones who can help PLUS they can give you a list of what to expect. That's what this new derm did with me. She said that I shouldn't expect to see any change until after A MONTH of being on this new dosage. Because, just like you, I want to know when I'm going to get rid of this stuff! She also gave me the cream bcs I, just like you, am disgusted by the marks.

5) Try to stay clear of anything negative online. Stick with the positives and blogs like this one. I've been busy before and after the holidays and couldn't get online but ALWAYS looked forward to getting online and blogging with y'all. JUST try to stay positive, I'm sure you can do it.

6) Another thing I've started is trying to eat health. I'm trying to focus on healthy eating. Perhaps if you gear your focus to something good for you! Might be a good idea instead of the 'negative' that you see in you, right?

I hope I helped somewhat and I apologize if I seemed a bit negative earlier. We will be more positive!

Take care, and I'll check in soon to see how your doing.

Stay positive buddy!

All you guys are more help then you even realise. To be honest with everhone here, my acne is all I think about and talk about. It has officially taken over my life. I once has perfect skin... you really dont know whag u got till its gone....

Guys I'm on 20mg but I'm VERY skinny.. I weigh around 45-48kg. My derm said I'll be on a 9 month course which probably means 20 mg the entire time? Its hard for me to ask my derm questions until my firsg appointment... after my 6 week blood test which is coming up VERY soon. In a couple of weeks, Derms in Australia are hard to see. They are a 3-4 month wait. I got lucky i was seeing a doctor who told the derm office i was an "emergency patient".

Well, I'm a bit sadddened by the fact my oily skin will be back after accutane... :( my scarring I would LOVE to do a fraxel 6 months after accutane HOPEFULLY clears my skin....

I am going to start drinking heaps and heaps of water maybe that may help. .... All i want is to be acne free. I know u guys know exactly how I'm feeling and it helps so so so much.

Please keep me updated on you progress's.
