I do put a combo or whatever I have next to me like Vaseline or Aquaphor up my nose with a Q-tip also. It does feel kind of gross if you put too much up there, you really just need to coat the inside and thats all. Its not bad at all if you just use a little. I actually think it feels good once it is up there lol. Its like a drink of water up your nose haha. It really helps though. It should clear up the problem quickly.

Thanks! I'm going to try it tonight.
Day 17
The little rash on my collarbone is so itchy and dry. I used the Cure Aqua Gel on it this morning because it was flaking. It got all the flakes off! Trying to keep it moisturized now so it'll heal.
Also, I have a swollen lymph node behind my right ear. It appeared a couple days ago. This is something that has happened at random times for years now. I never thought much of it. I did mention it to my dermatologist once, but he didn't seem too concerned since they always go away within a week. He had told me to see him or his father (who is my physician) the next time I had one, but I think that was only if it got big or didn't go away. Since I've been getting them for many years, I doubt it's Accutane related. I might call my physician about it though. I'd really like to know why they pop up!
I've also read that some people get cheapy little humidifiers that they plug in at night and that helps too
That's a good idea! Thanks!
Cure Aqua Gel = HG!
Btw, I distinctly remember a log on here stating that the person had a swollen lymph node behind his/her ear and I think it was due to the accutane
Yes! Love that stuff! It's so good for getting rid of the flakes!
And thanks for letting me know. I'll have to see if I can find out anything about it. I've been getting them for years, so I just assumed it wasn't due to the Accutane, but who knows. I'll check with my derm or my physician tomorrow. Hopefully it's nothing!
I actually just searched for lymph nodes on this forum. Turns out Betsy had one on her neck and read that an infected acne lesion on the scalp can cause a lymph node to swell. Well, that must be my answer because I have a nasty zit on my scalp, right above my right ear.

Oh ok now that I have read this I am sure that its from the nasty scalp zit. I'd see if you can get a antibiotic, it helped me a ton and got rid of that zit also!

Yeah, definitely going to call my derm's office on my lunch break. Hopefully it's nothing. I just worry he'll assume a swollen lymph node is the end of the world and he'll take me off the 'tane.
Scalp zits are so annoying! I mean, at least no one can see them... But I hate them!

I was scared of that too, thats why I went and saw my GP and not my derm. Little did I know my GP was on Accutane like 15 years ago and knows all about it. First doctor other than my derm I have spoken too that knew anything about Accutane. I swear because doctors can't prescribe it they don't research it or anything. They are clueless. I saw a doctor I forgot about what, but they mentioned how chapped my lips were. I said oh yeah it's because I am on Accutane. She asked me why Accutane would cause chapped lips... I told her you know Accutane for acne that hugely controversial medication. She was like hmmmm, I don't think it should dry you out like that. I was like ummm nevermind.

Hahaha, oh my. That doctor didn't know anything!
I'm not sure what my physician would say. I think I'd be more worried about what he would say than what my derm would say now that I think about it. I think I'll call my derm either today or Monday if it hasn't shown any signs of going away by then. Guess I'll see...
Well I hope that it goes down quickly! Also hope that pesky scalp zit goes away. If your like me your node will go down in size just as my zit did. It was odd if the zit got smaller so did the node...
Thanks! My zit is definitely smaller, but the lymph node hasn't budged yet. They usually last a week or so when I get them. Guess I'll see!
Day 18
Okay, I'm seriously going to pick up some lotion to put on this rash on my collarbone. It's so annoying! I'm developing a rash of little red bumps on my left thigh too. I really need to start moisturizing...
As far as my face goes... It seems to be drying out. I have a few flaky patches: My nose, a spot on my chin, and around the small scars on my forehead from lacerations I got in a car accident.
I didn't consult my derm about the swollen lymph node behind my ear. Since I'm prone to these, I'm going to wait until Monday and see if the swelling has gone down. They usually last about a week when I get them anyway.
So weird that all of a sudden the dryness sets in. Yesterday over the course of like 6 hours I developed like 4 dry patches on my right arm. 2 on my left and dry itchy legs. I lacked on the moisturizing and now I'm paying for it. Last night I moisturized like every part of my body you are able to get to I swear and today things were looking and feeling a lot better. I just got to keep it up. I haven't been dry up until yesterday and I was for a week or so after the trip to Orlando I associated that with being in the sun for 6 days straight. Ahhhhhh I love the weather there.
Hopefully that pesky lymph is down by Monday. If not for sure just call and see if it's something to worry about or not. Maybe just a simple antibiotic. That's me though I freak out and really I don't need to like 60% of the time.
Have you done the Vaseline up the nose yet?

Haha wow...does she live in a cave? Even my Naturopathic doctors know about Accutane...even my nutrition professors know about it! Even people walking down the street!!!!!!!! Although, there have been a few people I've encountered who were like, "you're taking what? Never heard of it."
Lucky them, I guess...

Hope it goes down, Rach! Pesky swollen buggers. It's interesting that you are getting bodily rashes. I haven't experienced that (yet), but then again, I religiously moisturize my body with Borage Oil moisturizer. This also sounds weird, but organic raw coconut oil is a lifesaver on dry patches. Since it doesn't contain any water and is just pure oil, it locks in all the moisture and is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. I've even put it on some dry patches around my nose/mouth and it healed it better than Aquaphor or Cetaphil cream. Just an idea if you have some in your kitchen. I fried some plantains in coconut oil last night. OMG totally amazing. 🙂

I know! I guess everything just wants to happen in its own time. My face doesn't feel dry though. It's getting there, I guess.
Definitely need to remember to moisturize! That's something I've been slacking on, too. I'm paying for it in itchiness. Lol!
I haven't tried the Vaseline up the nose yet. I know quite a few people do that, but reading stuff about how it could get into your lungs kind of freaked me out.

Yeah, the rashes on my body are probably due to the fact that I haven't been moisturizing. My skin doesn't feel dry yet, so I just haven't bothered. Lol. Oops. I have some Cortizone to put on them though.
I haven't tried coconut oil before, but I'll definitely have to look into that. Thanks!
Day 19
Is it obvious I'm trying to update this every single day even when I have no reason to? Lol. Lame, I know. (I also enjoy emoticons.)
The swollen lymph node behind my ear hasn't gone down in size yet. It doesn't bother me though. I actually forgot it was there. Not 100% sure if it's related to the zit on my scalp, but the zit is slowly shrinking.
I still don't have any new acne on my face. I do have one or two small zits on my back though. I hate getting them there because I have a tattoo just below my neck and sometimes zits pop up inside the tattoo. Fortunately, none of these are in the tattoo though.
All of the blackheads on my nose and chin are driving me nuts.
I have been unbelievably itchy today. I really need to start moisturizing. I bought an Aveeno body wash in hopes that would help, but it didn't seem to make much difference. Anyone want to come scratch my back for me??
Haha I have ONE black head too that is driving me completely insane. Its in the middle of my nose and I look at it every time I'm in front of a mirror. When I first started accutane all my blackheads came to the surface and I was freaking out thinking they would be there forever. They eventually go away & you never even notice when!
My back is super itchy toooooooo!!!!!!
I'll scratch yours if you scratch mine! 😛 Lol. Mine finally stopped itching after a while last night. I think the Aveeno lotion I used helped.
Heyyyy!
Hiiii, Taylor! 😀 How are you doing?

Can't wait till they go away! I know I'll be checking them every day. Lol.
