So I've decided I'm going to follow the regimen precisely. Recently I've jumped in to the full benzoyl peroxide dosage charts and my face has literally felt like a statue! My aim is to be clear for when I go to China on a school trip in October.

My name is, well just call me clear, and I love cats. I'm also fairly sporty and enjoy football (come on you R'sssss).

As I'm a Britain the price for ordering the Acne.org products is horrendous, so ive bought products from stores, here they are;

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Benzac AC Benzoyl Peroxide

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturiser (for the day)

Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion (for night)

So that's it really, I'd love it if people were to follow my log and I'm hopeful it may help others in the year to come!

Regimen started on the 14/7/13 (English date)

Hi :)

I'm pretty new to the regimen also - I'm at the end of my second week. I use store bought products too.

Definitely a good idea to try and follow the regimen precisely - I'm sure that's what makes all the difference!

Good luck with your regimen journey - I'll follow along :)

Thank you, I had a look at yours earlier, you're doing great!

I want to be clear after the six week holidays, and for when I go to china, spots aren't just bacteria on your face, they're confident destroying scum and I want to get rid of them!

Day 1

Ah, my first day on the regimen! I am happy with the way I cleansed my face today, I was gentle and followed the steps precisely. Obviously my acne hasn't improved, but I can't wait until a month later and I begin to see the improvements! My face was quite dry after applying the benzoyl peroxide, however I moisturised well and the dryness should be gone by the morning. I've got sports day tomorrow, so hopefully I won't be paranoid that half of my face is flaking off!

That's it for today. I just need to keep up the consistency of performing the regimen at 7pm and 7am. :)

Good Luck! Just remember to be patient with your skin ( and I do mean extremely patient). Think of t like a badly behaved child that you are putting through a behavior modification program. I wouldn't put a time frame of one month in your head for progress either. Prepare yourself to see major improvement by 4-6 months. If you are still breaking out by then excessively, then you can say you gave it your all.

Thank you! :)

I'm not going to rush anything, and I don't want to irritate my skin further. I guess I might not be clear for when I go on a trip to China, but I won't give up!

Day 2

Once again I am happy with the way the Regimen is going, however this morning I woke up with numerous whiteheads around my mouth/cheek area. I irritated my face quite a bit popping and trying to banish them purely because today I had sports day which meant everyone would see the disgusting pus capsules. I've been gentle the rest of the day though and especially with the nightly applications. Not only this, but my chin, upper lip and lower cheeks had drastically changed in the dryness, I feel my face is more moisturized and doesn't peel 15 minutes after washing and applying the benzoyl peroxide! So, so far so good! smile.png

EDIT: oops, I forgot to tell you all, as my face didn't feel as dry I felt there was no need to apply jojoba oil and only used my Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion!

Good luck! :) I just recently started as well... hoping to be a little clearer by the time the school semester starts. Well... maybe a little clearer in a month? When I go on vacation? But I think that's too much to ask.

But, I'm a little confused... did you start with the full dosage right off the bat?

Nope, I'm doing it EXACTLY like the guide says, but I've had experience with BP. Good luck though with your regimen!

I woke up awful today, whiteheads everywhere and ugh I just didn't want to even look at myself in the mirror, my face looks like I've been stung by a million bees! :(

Hang in there! :)

A lot of people experience an initial breakout on the regimen - so keep that in mind if things look like they're getting worse. Sometimes things do have to get worse before they can get better.

Hopefully if you remain gentle with your skin and follow the regimen as closely as possible, you'll be rewarded with clear skin soon enough :)

So I've got some pictures I took before I started the Regimen, here they are;

Day 3

I am really annoying myself about how spots keep purging up around my chin/cheek area and me having to pop them, purely because they look vile, and I have to spend 6 hours of my time with judgmental idiots who throw insults around without thinking of the consequences. So yeah, I think I've actually irritated my skin popping all the whiteheads. During the actual daytime, I was in school, and I had a quick wipe of the forehead, and EW, my skin was so oily! I don't know whether this was due to the BP causing me to release more oil, but I had to ask to go to the toilet to blot my face. Yuck. Currently in England it is so hot (well for us Brits) and this might actual be assisting with the breakout of whiteheads around my chin and stuff. I applied the regimen carefully, and I felt less dry today, so that was probably the only positive thing, also, my skin doesn't feel very irritated. I just need to bare looking at myself in the mirror... Just a couple more weeks :(

Day 4

The time on the regimen has actually gone relatively fast, but I'm no where near improvement. Again, I woke up with multiple whiteheads, they seem to be multiplying by day or something! I was really moody and upset by the whiteheads so I was fairly rough with my face doing the whole routine. The whiteheads are really depressing me right now and I've even spent time getting upset. I really hope it is purging taking place because this is the worst I believe I've ever looked with my acne! One positive though is my face seems to get less dry day by day, which is odd, but i do moisturize well and follow the steps! My skin got oily as usual so I had to blot my face twice today. Oh yeah, and when I'm cleansing, I can barely feel any lumps on my forehead, it just feels smooth and stuff, however the appearance is red and looks spotty, it's really weird! Hopefully tomorrow the whiteheads aren't multiplying further!

I hear you on those multiplying whiteheads... I found a whole bunch of new ones today around my mouth. Seems like they really like to come up next to old ones just to piss me off. I get so excited when I see an old one almost healed, then WHAM... wake up with a new one right next to it. Today I've just been watching one especially annoying one to the lower-right of my mouth get redder and angrier as the day progressed. I'm really ticked off as the first week on the Regimen I saw great improvement, and now I feel like I've been pushed back. But then again, it's only been a week, can't expect anything spectacular :/

I know right! The worst part of it all is that I don't have the confidence to go out with whiteheads showing, so I always pop them, which isn't exactly doing anything good for my skin.

Day 5

Everything went really well today. I haven't cleared or anything but I was able to smoothly and gently get rid of a few whiteheads using my wiping method (Getting a boiling cotton wipe, then waiting for the whitehead to come to the surface, then gently wiping it away, then closing the pore with cold water) and I didn't even have to pop one! I was so proud, so I don't believe I've irritated my face that much today. I had my cooking class today and because the weather has been/is so hot I sweated a quite bit, I don't know if this has any effect on spots but still, it can't be that good. My face was just as oily today, but I soon blotted it away numerous times. Other than that, I don't really know what to say... My face still is riddled with spots, but the irritation is less and today felt like a progressive day. :)

Day 6

It has almost been a week on the regimen. My face seems dry and a little red. There isn't really anything to report again apart from washing my face 2 hours later than I usually do (I hope this doesn't take any effect) just because I don't want to wake up at 6 on a weekend. On Sunday I'll do it twice a day so I'm looking forward to not getting so oily throughout the day. I popped some whiteheads which purged on my right cheek this morning, and my forehead seems to be getting clearer, whilst my mouth area is becoming more spotty.

Hey everyone. :)

Judging by the pictures I posted above, could anyone tell me how severe my acne is and what type of acne it is?

Thank you. :)

I wouldn't say it's too severe, but it's definitely not mild either. To me it seems like it would respond well to BP treatment. Just keep at it!

Also, I've gone back to using Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser (which you use), and it's a night and day difference between it and Dan's! It's so gentle that I wonder if it's actually doing anything, lol. But, unlike Dan's, it doesn't leave my face feeling like I'm wearing a mask.

Also, how's the Neutrogena moisturizer working for you? Some people say SA and BP are a great combo, some people say SA is just further irritation...

Thanks for the help of identifying the acne type. :)

Yes, I do like Cetaphil as its very friendly, but I only use it at night because it leaves residue on the skin. I turned to Neutrogena only because it would absorb, and it did. I haven't really noticed much irritation (I finish week 1 tonight) so I do like my moisturiser. Hopefully it is fighting my acne but I'm not particularly bothered as the BP will sort that out. :)

Day 7

A week on the regimen! This has lifted me, as in 3 weeks I'll be able to fully prevent my acne! There's not really much to tell you guys, except I have a cyst on the back of my neck and a cyst on the right side of my forehead. Other than that, my skin condition is the same, my face is not very dry and the redness has subsided. Woo, tomorrow I'll apply twice a day and increase the amount. :)

I agree with wombat on the acne type.

With the cetaphil cleanser - does it foam up at all? I've used it in the past and don't remember it foaming but I've been thinking about going back to it because the cleanser I have foams and I'm wondering if it's drying my skin more...

Up to you of course, but I just thought I'd give my opinion on that moisturiser. It might seem ok now, but as you start increasing BP your skin is most likely going to get drier and having SA in the moisturiser might be too much. It's also adding in something the regimen doesn't 'prescribe' so if you end up getting to the end of 3 or 4 months of the regimen and haven't seen results, how will you know if the regimen hasn't worked when you haven't followed it? Sorry to sound all 'teacher-ish' but I'm just repeating the advice / things recommended by Dan for regimen users until they clear (then you're free to experiment with it). If you're liking the moisturiser and you're not having any problems then I guess it's fine to keep using :)

Congrats on making it through your first week! Keep at it and hopefully you'll have great results in a few months time, if not sooner :)

Thank you. I don't really notice any added dryness to be honest but you are right I should be following it precisely. The cetaphil isnt foamy, it is like washing up liquid, and it forms a really nice lather which is sosososo gentle.

Day 8

Where do I start? I am not attention seeking,I just need a place to let all of my emotions out. My face is disgusting, and so is every other feature on it. My eyebrows are bushy straight slugs which look vile and it loos like I have chicken pox. My nose is riddled with blackheads and my hairline is that of a 50 year olds (receeding). My face is the same as yesterday however I just can't feel optimistic anymore, I am ugly. Not only this, but my friends are going through a bitchy phase and I feel like I have no one to talk to. I feel so alone. I am thinking of stopping the regimen... But I wonder what will I do next? Live a life with acne? live a life with no confidence? I don't even see the point of me getting through the day... People stare and I know they think I'm disgusting and I'll always be stupid. Life is horrible when you are full of imperfections... I honestly feel so insecure about myself. I want a new face... A new brain... A new life.

I hate me.

Day 9

I need to apologies for my log update last night. I was feeling so emotional and I was picking out all of my insecurities which ultimately made me feel worse; I never weighed the positives. For a moment (or day) acne had defeated me. Well I'm fighting back now, sticking to the regimen more than ever! I think I applied way to much BP, but I moisturized well to compensate. My face is currently stinging a bit but I don't really mind it and also it is dry, very dry around the mouth area. I really don't want to wake up to flake city, so I'll be adding some more moisturiser before I go to bed tonight.

Day 9

Sorry, I forgot to update the log yesterday. So I'll do it now. People complained about dryness, and I was actually avoiding the dryness effect until yesterday, after cleansing my face went dry. Not very dry though, all I had to do was moisturize and everything was okay again, I also feel I've cleared up a little on my cheeks, but I am no where near the 1 month mark so I don't wanna get my hopes up. The dryness is only just beginning. :(
