This will be used as a journal so I can hopefully motivate myself to stick with the Regimen.

Any words of encouragement would be greatly welcomed. I really really want to stay motivated and stick with the plan.

Here is my history:

I am a 333 year old female and first suffered from acne at age 12. I have had only a few years of clear skin in the past 21 years. I have seen many doctor's and worked with a Dermatologist. I stopped going to the Derm when she said my last step was Accutane and I refused.

In December 2012 I began going to a Medi-Spa in hopes of clearing up my acne, however, it made everything worse. They tried a variety of things which only seemed to make it worse and cause scarring (which I only had a little of in the past).

I tried doing the Regimen a couple weeks ago, but the benzol peroxide caused my skin to get very dry and then I couldn't cover up my acne. I'm a performer and my type of performing requires me to interact with the audience. Although I don't require hiding all of my acne, the dry skin/acne combo made it awful and I had to stop. I think I started a bit too aggressively too. I'm ready to try again though and will be finished all performances in the next three weeks.

What I will share is that I have never let acne interfere with my life. I have always worn very little cover up, that is until this Spring. The Medi Spa has caused so much discolouration and scaring, that I felt very insecure and began wearing cover up daily. I now only use some mineral powder on my face and when I have white heads, I use a cover up stick.

Over the course of twenty years, here is what I have tried.

Over the counter topical medication.

Prescription acne topical cream.

Three different types of antibiotics. (The only one that was very effective was a very heavy dose of Tetracyline when I was in my teens)

Proactive (this caused me the best success as a topical solution)

Microdermabrasion

Two different types of chemical peels

Radio frequency technology (Accent)

Blue U

Removing all dairy and gluten from diet

Taking supplements to help (zinc, b12 complex, niacin, fish oils, A, C, D, E)

Hormonal testing twice (turned up fine each time)

I'm sure there is more...

Currently, I'm using

Wash -Vivier Skin HEXAM (Gentle Cleanser)

Benzyl - Proactive (might as well use it up)

Cream - Vivier Skin - Redness Solution Complex (with Hexamidine and Peptides)

I have another cream of Vivier that I love (LEXXEL) but it's quite heavy so I think the Regimen would rather me use something lighter.

I have Jojoba oil ready and an 8% AHA when the time comes.

At this point, I have small, insignificant acne on my chin. However, I have cystic acne on my cheeks and chin. I have a lot more acne on the left side of my face. That is the side I sleep on. I change my pillow case often and have no idea why it's so much worse. I have two cystic acne spots on my right side currently and seven on my left.

DAY 1 - woke up to only one new med spot on my right chin. As well, two tiny white heads on my left side. This is the best morning in awhile. I began the Regimen using the above mentioned products.

Welcome to acne.org and to the Regimen. It is a difficult process and you have to mentally prepare to go through the ups and downs for 3-4 months. i am on my 2nd month and still break out but there hs been a lot of improvement. The hardest part for me on the regimen is the sudden and unpredictable itching and the continuous breakouts on my chin. In any event, patience is the key. Ramp up BP dosage slowly, stay moisturized and keep busy.

Thanks for the kind words and sharing. I am not looking forward to dry skin. It drives me crazy and I catch myself touching my face when it gets flaky. I tried to do the Regimen a couple weeks ago but I had to quit because of the flakiness. I hope it doesn't come back that badly again. Going to do my best to keep my patience. :)

Day 2

Woke up only a few tiny new acne spots. A few of my larger ones subsided a bit. Unfortunately, I have a few large ones on m left cheek bone and they seemed to grow another large one. :S My skin was a bit dry, but only on the large acne bumps. I am putting my BP on in the morning as I feel like I have more time to do the steps properly.

Day 4

Skin seems to be continuing to improve. Only dry spots are still just over top of the bigger acne spots. The rest of my skin is actually quite nice, not oily or dry. Had two white heads show up below my mouth, but they are already starting to go down. Another red bump is forming under my jaw line on my left side (of course). Another bump is growing beside one of the big spots that just started going down two days ago.

I should add that I'm not putting BP on my forehead since it's almost clear, other than some blackheads and maybe some clogged pores. Not going to agitate an area that is happy.

Day 5

Woke up with some large spots growing under the skin. :( Current acne is just sort of stalled not doing much. The ones that were growing below my mouth are painful. Skin is feeling more oily than normal.

It happens so definitely mentally prepare yourself to break out for at least 3 straight months. if you come to expect it then maybe you won't get so down about it. In any event, you're not alone so keep your head up

Thank you Sasch.

Day 6

Yesterday I had a hair cut and I asked my children what was different. My six year old answered "Your pimples are gone mommy". What a way to brighten my day! :)

There is some truth there... I am not as oily and my acne is not as red since starting. Yeah!!!

I woke up this morning with my right side doing quite well. However, my left is still all crazy. The ones on my cheek are going down, but a cluster broke out just under my mouth. There are some small white heads there, which is unusual as I don't often have this type of acne.

My chin is much dryer today and it's extremely dry over top of my acne spots.

I started up my vitamins/supplements again to see if they help.

Day 7

Right side is still looking awesome. I have a small under the skin acne on my cheek and then the one that is linger on my jaw. It's doubled up though now.

On the left side, I'm about the same, except the acne under my mouth has turned from small white heads to larger ones and the biggest one is starting to turn a bit yellow. Ew!!! What are we supposed to do with these? They are so gross.

My neck acne is improving, but I do have some under my left jaw that appeared yesterday and is all hard and bumpy. I can't stand the feel of it and the pressure.

My skin is only dry over top of the acne under my mouth.

Day 8

Chin is super dry today. Have some large spots of acne growing on my chin. New smaller ones appearing left of my mouth. The white heads are dried out and yellow. :( It's so gross.

I think that I'm supposed to add BP twice a day now. :S I'm going to be super dry now. Going to search to see if that is what's supposed to happen next.

Day 9

Woke up to some real ugliness below my mouth on my left side. A few large acne spots are growing under the skin. However, my right side has no active spots (except maybe some small insignificant ones... YEAH!!!!)

I didn't add BP twice yesterday. I was lazy and didn't wash my face before bed. Then woke up at 3 am and had to wash it. Felt so much better afterwards.

I will apply BP tonight and begin applying it twice a day.

Day 11

Face is just awful. Right side has broken out in a couple spots. Lots of activity on the left side. Skin is dry... Ugh!

Day 12

Face has improved from yesterday. Thinking that PMS is causing my face to break out a bit more than usual. Nothing new to really report other than a new large spot of acne developing on my chin (left side of course...)

The dryness has not really been a problem the past day or two and I have been using BP twice a day. It does feel very dry though, right after I wash.

I mostly wish for the purple scaring to go away. I really really hate it. :(

Day 13

Getting discouraged. Have some really large, seems cystic, acne spots on my left chin. Another large one growing on my right cheek, under my glasses arm. Mostly, I'm really depressed because I can see some really deep scarring that has occurred now on my chin. I'm so down. :(

My skin was never perfect, but I never had scarring until I started seeing the medical esthetician starting in December 2012. They were supposed to help me and now my skin is destroyed forever. UGH!!!!!!!! Is there any way to help the scarring? I will have to clear up my skin first, but then I will have to figure out what else can be done. What a mess. :(

I guess the fact that I can see scarring means the acne is beginning to clear up and heal. I thought it would feel better than this.

I'm so embarrassed posting this. I figure there is no better place to share my pain and humiliation. I'm so depressed today about my skin. :(post-210946-0-84307400-1372260552_thumb.post-210946-0-84307400-1372260552_thumb.

Day 14

My skin is getting dryer. My chin and cheeks are becoming very dry and flakey. This makes it really hard for me not to touch my face. I don't pick or anything, I just run my hands across the flake. :( Doing my best to stop. Didn't follow the Regimen this morning as had swimming and other things. Will get back to doing everything proper tonight.

Had some very strange burning on my chin last night. Not sure if it's the bp or a bad combo of products.

Well, I'm done. I don't think this is for me. I was prepared for my skin to get worse, but I can't deal with the weird burning sensation. I have posted on the site to get feedback about what the bad combos are, but no one seems to know. I know I read it somewhere on the site... Just can't find it. Until I know what those combos are, I'm not continuing. I have had bp burn me before from use, but that is not what I'm feeling when I've been putting it on.

I have no idea what to do now. My skin is awful... Oh well. I'll go back to not using bp and keep using the products I like.

If anyone can link me to what I should not be using combined, I would be very grateful.

Hopefully some of you have better luck than I have.

Please don't give up hun! 2 weeks is nothing in the bigger scheme of things. With the regimen, things will get worse and your skin will go through a lot of growing pains but if this treatment is for you, the payout in 3-4 months will be awesome.

Hopefully you'll reconsider.

Good Luck on your decision

I agree so much with Sasch, don't give up! ahaha

I was in the same situation around week 2, and I'm going to be honest I had that uncomfortable burning sensation all the way up to week 7ish.. and even the odd day now when my skin is feeling a little sensitive, but If I had to give you one piece of advice its stick with it! cause it seriously does get better and it does go away.

Keep on puttin that Jojoba oil on (I do 10 or more drops at night, only my parents are there to see me looking like an oil slick ahah ;p) and push past the initial breakout phase.. If you stick it out till month three I'm pretty much willing to guarantee you will be happy you did (:

If you have any questions at all you can always message me and I'd be happy to answer them (:

Good luck! and keep at it~
