I had pretty horrible acne on my back, it was numerous and inflamed. Well recently i've taken up swimming at my pool, been doing so for about a week. I checked my back about 2 day's ago, and I was freaking shocked.
The acne was alot milder, redness had faded away and it was healing. So I am thinking, maybe I should wash in chlorine water more often..
ok, I work in a pool, so deal with some of the chemicals and stuff. Putting cholrine in the bathtub is a very very bad idea. The chemicals that are used in swimming pool aren't just cholrine. Alot of the other chemicals that are used in the pool could be beneficial in thier own way. I swim alot and the pool doesnt have much benefit to be as I suffer with dry cysts. Though tbh it can give you some clues on what acne treatment could work better than others.
Cholorine is just the comment name for the chemical which is used in pools, peope have always called it that because it smells like cholrine. It is one of the active ingrediemts although the chemical is Calcium Hypochlorite. Its a basically a calcium and cholorine compund and has alot of other ingredients in to make it safe. If i use this chemical of something I need to have full protective equipment including a gas mask just to put it inot the filter system. It is not somthing to be played about with. If you are looking for an acne treatment to mirror this you would need to look for a drying topical to apply just after a bath, that was alkaline and antibacterial as these are the HTH propeties.
Also, because the HTH is so Alkaline they have to use Hydrochloric acid to balence it out on the system. This also has antibacteirial propertie and could be found in a simlar situation in say a sayllic acid body wash.
Another massive ingredient is actually sodium. As in salt. This is the one I found incredibly useful. As some of my cysts woud get infected. I only discovered this after I had a pericing done and I was told to take salt watrer baths to keep it clean. You dont want to use table salt as its been bleached and shit. Use pure sea salt and put it into a hot bath. The bath is now completly clean from the salt and its actually really good.
My best advice however is just to get to the swimming pool more, it will do you good not just for your skin but for the rest of you. Dont attempt to re create a pool in your bath. I still get it wrong somtimes with an electronic dosing system to do the work. Its just not that easy.
I used to swim 6-8 times a week back when my acne was on the mild level and it didn't seem to help....it really dried my skin out. However I watched the British Swimming Champs recently and all the swimmers seemed to have great skin (body and face) and they were all late teens/earlier twenties.
its seems at summertime when im out in the sun and swimming tha my acne is never a problem i had never had bacne before but then right when school started it just showed up
Same situation here. I go from really mild acne during the summer months, to moderate/severe during the school year. I think it must have something to do with sun, but I don't know!! Vitamin D pills didn't seem to help me. If you find something that works for you I'd like to know because it sounds like we might be pretty similar.
Depending on your skin type and cause of acne the pool and chemicals in it can be beneficial. I'm 35 and never had bad acne till I was 28. I'm told it's hormones. I've also spent thousands of dollars on every product under the sun over the past 7 years and nothing works.I recently joined a new gym and started using the indoor pool and hot tub 2 or 3 times a week. My acne is finally clearing up! I think the water and chemicals are definitelyhelping me. But it's importanttonote it's not good for everyone. Some people have an adverse reaction and it can cause more acne...I think because my skin is a little oily the chemicals dry it out like nothing else can and it's preventing new blemishes. I also use a good night moisturizer to counteract the dryness and keep my elasticity.
