I never get acne on my neck - ever.
Around ten weeks ago I started using a new shampoo. I started getting heaps of bumps on my neck like the ones you see in the photos, but not broken out (as they are now).
I continued to stupidly use the shampoo despite the neck issue for around 7 weeks. I stopped using it. And now my neck is just breaking out like crazy. I took these photos to demonstrate what is happening. Before when I was using the shampoo they were just bumps, only visible in the light - no break outs. Now it's crazy an when I took these photos I was shocked to see there are actually black heads as well.
I went to my doctor and he told me it was acne. I don't think this is acne because acne doesn't really come in those mass bumps.
I'm not 100% sure it was from that shampoo but it did start around that time.
What should I do and what could it be? It's been 3 weeks no and it has only been worsening since I stopped using it. My Doctor told me to use differin but I'm afraid to since I don't think that this is acne.
I'm 16 BTW and I eat healthy (tried the candida diet but I don't have candida) and I only get pimples on my face. This is crazy. Could it be a fungus? What should I do?
This is called noninflamed comedonal acne (i.e. whiteheads and blackheads).I would listen to your doctor and use the differin. Differin is a retinoid, which can help open the pores and break down/purge the whiteheads/blackheads before they turn into inflamed pimples, which can lead to red marks, etc. Good for treating comedonal acne.
The initial breakout is a normal occurrence with retinoids. Retinoids cause rapid exfoliation of the skin, therefore bringing all future blemishes to the surface at a faster rate. It took my son 4 weeks of purging to finally see some results, and I'm so happy we stuck with it. With time you should see fewer active pimples, and they should get less and less as the days go on. So just try and muscle through this phase the best you can, and know it is completely normal and part of the process.
Hang in there!
