Butt Acne- The Results Of Every Remedy I Tried

I've had acne on my butt since I was a kid. A year or two ago I decided to try everything I could to get rid of it. Tried basically every method I read about online. Here are the results of how each method worked for me. Obviously every body is different, and different things work for different people. This is just my experience.

Honey- Worked very mildly. I read to put honey on my butt for 20 minutes a day. Was a mess, and had to walk around naked with a sticky butt. It did make the swelling of the zits better, but that's it.

Baby powder- Did nothing. Then I just smelled like baby powder all day.

Drinking a lot of water- Made them less visable. While I was very hydrated, the redness faded and the zits were harder to see. When you stop drinking a lot they're visable again.

Toothpaste- Made it worse. I read to dot toothpaste on each zit. Made them painful and way redder.

Olive oil- Made it worse. Read to rub it on my butt and let it sit a while. Bad idea!

Head and Shoulders shampoo- Helped! It turns any big red zit into a tiny, flat red dot. Nothing spectacular, but I still keep a bottle in my shower and wash my butt if I get a big zit. Usually swells down within 20 minutes. Off-brand is fine, as long as it has zinc.

Apple cider vingar- Did nothing. Just smelled bad and dried out my skin.

Aloe- Did nothing, but did make my skin feel nice.

Tea tree oil- Helped! When I put it on the zits, it made them go away very quickly. Does nothing to prevent more from returning though.

Butt Acne lotion- Worked! My butt's not perfect, and I get a zit or two here and there, but it's way better than it was. Main complaint- you can't peel the damn label off the bottle, and it says, "butt acne" right on it. It's like, infused onto the bottle. The word "butt" is even italicized, making it look very laughable. I cover the bottle in duct tape so my boyfriend doesn't see it in our bathroom. :shy:

Coconut oil- Did nothing, but made my skin feel great, and actually helped with the keratosis pilaris on my legs.

Eating healthier- Did help, but was nothing miraculous. When I go to McDonald's or something, I break out worse. At first I tried to just cut out greasy foods, and that did help a little, but I wasn't necessarily eating healthy. Then I decided to actually eat healthy foods like lots of fruits and vegetables every day. This did help. It also helped with other bodily issues I had, so I've kept it up.

Black soap- Did nothing. Heard it helped with general acne, not specifically butt acne. I tried it and actually continue to buy it because I like the soap. Regardless, did nothing to the zits.

Sea salt- Did nothing. Felt nice though!

Hope this helps or at least informs someone out there! Again, everyone's different, so what did not work for me may very well work for you, and vise-versa. My advice is to eat healthier, drink your water, and if you have the money, buy the lotion. Other things helped to get rid of the zits, but the lotion was the only thing that got rid of them and prevented more from returing (most of the time). If you just need to get of a few zits fast, I'd suggest tea tree oil. Got a little bottle at the grocery store for like, six bucks.

Hi! Butt acne is the bane of almost everyone's existance. Think about it, that skin is squished, rubbed and sweating ALL day, butt acne is pretty much gonna happen at some point for everyone no matter what.

Question - do you do any sports which require you to wear restrictive clothing (yoga, biking, running, etc.) on your bottom half while you sweat? If yes, chamois cream can be helpful, especially for biking. Acne in the butt area is typically caused by staph aureas, not P. vulgaris, so treatment is a little different than the blemishes you see on your face. It also tends to be aggravated by abrasions or chaffing - wearing loose clothes and keeping the area dry can really help. Also - if the acne is more on the upper part of your butt (not necessarily the parts that are sweaty), look at the detergents you use (although this might be a less likely culprit in your case since you've had the issue for a while). I learned the hard way, but certain cleaning detergents can be quite irritating especially to skin that is rubbed and pressed against your clothes for most of the day, so switching to a fragrance free detergent might help. Food for thought!

Hi,

I found a product that seams to work for me.
Product Used : Germ-X with Vitamin E : [Edited image out]
Directions of Use : Squirt into hand, apply to cheeks using a circular motion three times a day. Once after waking up, once around 5pm and once before bed. (staying off your butt also helps and wear some shorts or try to get some sun back there also helps)
Testimonial...
So for the first time in my life these red bumps are gone from my butt cheeks.
I can't promise you that this product will work for you.
I am sharing this information because I have had the red bumps on my butt cheeks just like some of you are saying you have also.
We might be experiencing something different.
Read My Experience at the bottom if your wondering more.
Condition:
You have red bumps usually the size of a pimple but they don't seam to be pimples after all.
They usually are not very raised just red pores or follicles.
If they become inflamed they swell and become very raised.
They don't have puss.
Some people get them only sometimes.
Some people always have them.
My Experience:
For me this wasn't such a big deal. I am a guy so I wasn't really even concerned about what the skin on my butt looked like when I was younger.
But ever since I was young I had red dots on my thighs and red bumps on my butt cheeks. Everywhere else on my body I had very clear skin.
The ones on my thighs were all over the place. They didn't really hurt at all and they were small red dots that just never went away.
Most of the time if I didn't look I wouldn't even know they were there. Eventually I wanted to get rid of this problem so I started reading up.
I've heard all kinds of things about what it was and how to treat it.
It seamed that it was a follicle that was either infected, inflamed or just really mad about something.
So I started to try a few different products for treatment.
Acne products, oils, powders, salt baths, lotions, creams , staying off my bum.
Still I had these red guys all over.
About 3 years ago I decided to just focus on the ones on my legs, I really wanted to see my thighs with clear skin.
I tried acne products and lotion but frustratingly they didn't seam to help at all.
I determined that my thighs were getting too dry during the day and that was contributing to the persistance of these red dots.
After reading up on coconut oil I decided to treat my legs with it and see if that would help.
I made the decision to shave the hair from my thighs first in hopes that it would help to release the redness from the pores.
(When you shave your hair from your legs you risk getting a rash or ingrown hairs so be careful.)
For me I felt alot of relief after shaving my thighs.
I used coconut oil every day after a shower for 3 weeks and it did work for my legs.
The persistant red dots on my legs cleared up off my thighs after I saturated them for about a month in coconut oil.
However the red bumps on my bum were still there.
I believe now that the ones that were on my butt cheeks are different from what I had on my thighs.
These things were always comming and going and everything I tried seamed to either not work, work a little bit or make it worse.
Just when it looked like they were going to clear up they would break out again.
Sometimes one or two would become very raised above the skin and trying to pop it is very painful.
There was never puss in them they were just irritated red follicles or pores I guess.
But since I couldn't see them I wasn't that concerned they were usually not painful and if I didn't look in the mirror I wouldn't even know they were there.
Recently however I decided to try and find a product that would treat or cure these red bumps on my cheeks.
I found that pure vitamin E oil works great for me to keep the skin on my hands or trouble spots healthy.
One day I saw the Germ-X with vitamin E hand sanitizer and I bought some for my hands.
Then I had the thought to try using it on my bum.
And after three weeks of using it my cheeks are all clear and my skin feels alot more confortable.

I havent read your entire post and Im not sure what kind of butt 'acne' youre referring to but Im guessing its just the common kind of bumpy red inflamed spots or dry small bumps. (Im not a doc I have no idea what the medical terms for these are) but what has kept my bum nice and smooth for years and avoided this so called 'butt acne' from developing and spreading has always been nappy rash zinc cream for babies. I dont even use the branded stuff like sudocrem which is very pricey, i buy the one from Asda which is fragrance-free and doesnt irritate my skin at all. So for anyone who wants to have a babysmooth bum like me try it and see.

I get terrible large large pimples on my butt. It is the absolute worst. They take months to clear up even with lots of tea tree and acne creams and then when one goes away another appears :(
The one thing that worked really well for me is using a tanning bed. I stopped a while back and the acne returned unfortunately. Even though I don't want to be tan I am thinking of going back to tanning

I found something completely by accident that has almost entirely cleared up all the acne I've had on my butt. I have been trying for years to get this to go away. I've tried all the online remedies, I've used tea tree oil, coconut oil, acne body washes, exfoliators, changing my diet, drinking more water, etc. You name it, I've probably tried it. Some helped me they faded a little, and while the acne mostly went away, I was left with horrible acne scars, and tried everything to get rid of those. I tried using baking soda, more tea tree oil, toothpaste, everything. Well I had ran out of my body wash one day and had to go buy another, and decided to get a different one from what I normally get. Previously, I had been using the Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub, the pink grapefruit one with exfoliating beads, which did significantly reduce the amount of redness, but did nothing about the scars. Instead, I bought St. Ives Nourish and Sooth Oatmeal and Shea Butter body wash. I have been using it for a week, and they're almost completely gone. They've faded and have gotten much smaller. I found it by mistake and I just had to share, because I have googled over and over how to cure butt acne and found no solution. I hope if you decide to try this that it works for you guys, and best of luck!
