WEEK 12 - Can I add clindamycin to ACNE.ORG ?

Hello,

I have been on Acne.org for almost 3 months now and I do notice it makes breakouts go away faster. Also, alongwith the AHA my skin is pretty soft and smooth aside from pimples. But the pimples won't stop coming. I mostly only get pustules. I have had a couple of cystic looking pimples this year.

I am wondering if anyone has ever added 1% clindamycin to the regimen?

How do you incorporate it into the regimen?

That's interesting that after 3 months you're still getting breakouts.

Check out the FAQ and see if you can get some insight there. Normally, it's either:

1. People aren't using enough benzoyl peroxide

2. They are irritating their skin in some way

3. They are using a product of some kind that is breaking them out

4. They have a hormonal disorder like PCOS (if they are female - don't know if you are male or female)

No I've been following it pretty strictly...

Also, my skin took really well to the BP so i was on 2 full pumps by around week 3. I also started using AHA after 2 months. My skin looks really good like it's glowing but I still get acne... When should I apply clindamycin before of after BP?

PS I am male.

You'll have to ask your doc any questions about prescriptions such as when to use them.

However, in my own experience, topical clindamycin did literally nothing. It was very strange how bad my skin was when I was on clindamycin actually. That's when it was at its worse in my lifetime. However, studies show it does help to a minor degree, so who knows, it might help a little bit for you. Keep in mind that you only want to use it for a maximum of 3 months, which means even if it does work it will only work temporarily.

My strong suggestion is to really make sure you're not doing something to interrupt the efficacy of the regimen. Did you read through the FAQ carefully?

Hi.

Same thing is happening to me, although my is a bit weird. Let me explain

I suffer from moderate acne, back in April 2019, I was prescribed Epiduo. (2.5% BP and 0.1% Adapalene)

Within 3 months, my skin was completely acne free, and my skin stayed acne free for 10 months, I would get the odd little spot every now and then.

Then my acne flared up again out of nowhere. I then switched to Duac 5% which contains Clindamycin 1% and 5% BP. I am in week 7 of this treatment, and I can see my acne which flared up is clearing, but Im still getting break outs too. Its annoying and frustrating.

Have you asked your doctor for some topical antibiotics? Lymecyclin worked for me, but I had to come off due to me having a reaction to them

I hope when my acne does go away it never comes back. Clyndamycin is a topical antibiotic. I never heard of Lymecylin. I am going to give the acne.org a solid 6 months, so 3 more months and then take it from there...

If you have chest and back acne Lymecycline is a good option itsanoral antibiotic. It could be worth speaking to your GP. However you would not be able to use an oral antibiotic as well as a topical antibiotic.

If you want to add Clyndamycin to your regime. There is a cream out there that has clyndamycin and Benzoyl peroxide combined called Duac. You can get it in two strengths 3% and 5%. However the Clyndamycin is always 1%.
