Im a 37 year old with hormonal cystic acne.I used the regimen for 6 years and it worked wonders. But I decided it was time to quit. Plus I read you shouldnt use Benzoyl Peroxide if your pregnant and Im planning on trying to get pregnant soon.
Since Im aware you cant just stopusing it, I started a long journey of reducing the amount of product I use.
First of all I must say I only used it on my chin, whichis the onlypart of my face thats affected. I got used tousing two different routines on my face. One anti acne on my chin and another anti aging on the rest of my face. My morning and evening routines where long but worth it.
So when I decided to quit the regimen (it took me months to make the decision cause I was scared) I started reducing the amount of Benzoyl Peroxide. It took me almost 2 months to stop using it. I must say I broke out for a month but after that month my skin changed, the texture was so much better and all my worries about going back to where I was 6 years ago are gone!
What Im trying to say is I might have outgrown the acne stage without knowing it. And since I was scared to quit I just kept on using the regimen
I love Kiehls so decided to try theiracne treatment and I couldnt be happier!
i use theirBreakout Control Blemish Treatment facial lotion and as soon as I notice a pimple might come out I use the Breakout Control Targeted Spot Treatment. This works wonders!
Of course I still get a huge pimple once in a while but its ok cause I know I dont depend on Benzoyl Peroxide every day. For the first time in 6 years my skin is clear without Benzoyl Peroxide and it feels great!
The texture of my chin is back to normal. Makeup doesnt look dry on it and my red spots are fading.
Hope this was useful. I read a lot before decidingtoquit and was overwhelmed. It really doesnt have to be so complicated. Sometimes were just over that constant acne stage and we dont know it. I obviously know that I will suffer from hormonal acne the rest of my life. But seriously, its not that bad. One / twopimplesonce a month is not worth using Benzoyl Peroxide everyday.
Hi there,
I just wondered how your skin is doing now?

Well.... I must say my acne is back. But not those cystic pimples anymore. Just pimples. Ever since the warm weather started my chin broke out. I must say I work wearing a mask so Imguessingthats the problem. My chin sweats a lot (always has) so now I get small pimples every day.
But I have to say that I still wouldnt go back to the regimen. My skin looks better cause I dont have those red/violet marks I used to have. Plus, when I wear makeup it looks great on mychin. With BP my skin was rough and makeup looked awful.
Sweat will cause fungal acne, so it would be worth while applying an antifungal cream and/or dusting the areas where you sweat with antifungal powder.
Keep the area where you sweat very dry - wipe the sweat off. Fungus LOVES moisture, especially sweat.
