Tomorrow will be the beginning of the fourth week. I am currently using clinique face wash for oily skin, the acne.org bp, and cerave moisturizing lotion (today I had to use the cream). My face is breaking out worse than it has in probably 3 years. That is less troubling to me because I know I have pretty bad skin and it is purging. What's really bothering me is that my face is still bright red and peeling. It kinda hurts to move my face. Throughout the day it gets better, but for a few hours after applying it stings really bad.
So first, I really need encouragement. I really believe that this will help me and I just need to be patient, but my family doesn't understand why I'm putting such harsh things on my skin and think I should stop. Basically I need a new support system to help me right now because I'm so upset with how my face looks. I'm going through a lot right now (depression, anxiety, dropped school, moved home, recovering from addiction) and I think my acne has been a big factor in my depression and anxiety so I'm trying to get rid of it. I am reaching out to anyone and everyone!
Second, I would like some moisturizer recommendations. I think I should use the acne.org products to help make sure I can do everything possible to help the process. I have heard a lot of negative things about the moisturizer and would rather use something else. I really like the cerave lotion by my skin needs something much more hydrating. The cream I used today was okay, but I'm not sure if it's too heavy and will break me out.
Thank you so much for reading this if you've made it this far haha
Slothgirl, this regimen ruined my skin. Honestly. I thought I was getting clear but my skin dried out so much that it impaired my skin's ability to hold moisture and heal. My acne cleared up on my forehead but I started getting cysts on the rest of my face. It's not worth it. Treat your skin gently. The pain smiling, the "hard to move your face" feeling, the burning, the itching, the flaking, the cracking. It's not worth it. If you're going to put your skin through that you might as well try accutane. I eventually got sick of it all and decided I'd deal with the acne as long as my skin felt healthy and moisturized. And you know what? It turned out dryness was the cause of my breakouts. The more I focused on my skin looking and feeling healthy instead of dull, dead, tight, and dry, the better my skin became.
Four weeks is enough time that you've given this a chance. Please move on. Please treat your skin right. Look at skincareaddiction on reddit. That's how you should be caring for your skin. Moisture and things that make it stronger and healthier, not dead and dry.
Thank you guys for your help. I've stuck through it and my skin got a lot better, until I went out a few nights and didn't do the regimen. The breakouts are already healing though. Skinnie I definitely understand and I'm taking a lot of steps to moisturize, but I've tried everything, including only using gentle products and my skin feels great but I still have bad acne.
