Ive been reading a few other forums on this but wondering the long term outcomes. Ive been on BP for about 5-6 years and just recently decided that since I am now 25 with somewhat clear skin (besides occasional hormonal breakouts) I was going to no longer use the regime. Its been a few weeks now without it and my acne is out of control, worst than its ever been, even from when I was a teenager! My skin is inflamed with cystic acne, I have small bumps on my forehead (which Ive ever had previously), and my pores are noticeably larger. Ive been reading that its common, once you stop, your Acne comes back worse than before. I do not want to have to use BP for the rest of my life to control my acne. Has anyone experienced the same issues and waited it out instead of giving into using BP again?
I've been using the regimen for over 8 years. I'm 26 now - not a female however.
I would recommend going back on the regimen. The longer you "wait it out" the more damage you're going to do to your face (Acne scarring.)
Unfortunately the war with acne is a never ending battle for people like you and me.
Think of it this way though, if you execute the regimen perfectly you'll have flawless skin even without makeup. That will make you better looking than 90% of girls just by doing that. Good luck!
Benzoyl peroxide is the most awful thing for your skin. A year or so ago I praised the Acne.org regimen for clearing my skin from acne... it did but not without burning my face, making it red, making it peel horribly (to the point where the moisturizer didnt even work) and I felt like a slave to the routine. Not to mention my acne was FAR FAR WORSE and ALL over my face (instead of only on my chin and forehead like before I used BP) when I stopped the regimen.
Natural products, sunshine, a healthy diet, excersise, good sleep, good hydration, herbal supplements, and a way to manage stress is the only way to deal with bad skin. I regret more than ANYTHING in my life using BP. Plus its linked to cancer. So. Glad Dan and various billion-dollar industries are making a comfortable living off of destroying peoples skin/bodies.... but I think Ill stay away from their stuff. Ive learned if you have acne, never use acne products.
