It peels away the top cornified layer of skin, a chemical exfoliation treatment. It will sting a lot if you are too rough with your skin in your routine (makeup removal is usually the culprit). It will tingle a bit if your treating your skin correctly. Doing this speeds up the replication of skin cells, so you have a higher turnover to speed up the removal of scars. I used it for two months, however, after my scars had faded enough for me to be comfortable with I stopped using it as it was unnecessary. I now use it in conjunction with the benzyl as a spot treatment (I still get the odd pimple here and there) as it is really good at drying up pimples so they flake away without the need to pop them and risk leaving a scar.
