When I bought it in 2014 within 3 months of use it wonderfully cleared up my complexion. I wasn't getting much acne then anyway, just the odd pimple every other week, but I had PIH left over from years before. However late 2014 I had a massive acne breakout that I've been trying to deal with, my Doctor tells me it's adult acne.
Now when I try to use AHA+ it causes MORE acne. It never used to before, however I get an odd style of pimples from it. If I apply it in an area where there may be a pimple already, I'll get another one appearing next to it, and then several more. Now I have 6 pimples across my forehead looking like the horizon.
Why does AHA+ break me out now? Is it cos Glycolic Acid isn't suitable for me anymore, or is there something in this formulation? I'm willing to give other Glycolic Acid products a go since it worked so well for me initially.

I had a similar experience with AHA. At first, great, after 6 to 8 weeks it just went downhill. But no, I don't think it was the AHA itself. Over-exfoliation can make your skin more sensitive and vulnerable, resulting in more acne from everything...so that could be a possibility. You may need to cut back on the frequency of use.For me, cutting back the frequency at that point helped.
Ultimately, I think the real reason is because further exfoliation was not really the cause of my acne and not really the problem that needed fixing. I think it's mostly hormones...so now I'm focusing on getting that right.
I still use GA on occasion. Overall, it was a good addition to my skin care regime.
