So i have been using the acne.org regimen since 21st of July 2016 and I have had experience with acne since I was 13 years old (I just turned 21 last year). Most doctors and skin therapists have established that I have usually have moderate/mildly severe but very persistent acne; aka I have never had a face full of acne or cystic acne but whatever treatment I have tried I keep have the same amount of breakouts on my cheeks, chin and jawline. Also I have back acne but I dont really bother with that. And it might be worth mentioning I tried Accutane (or Isotreotin as it was called?) and had wonderful results but unfortunately my liver couldnt handle the drug so i quit.
Anyways the first 2 months on the acne.org regimen were AWFUL. And I mean it. My skin was the driest I've ever seen it and was peeling off horribly. Also the first 2 weeks I had to wear makeup everyday cus of my work which definetly made it worse; yes I'm aware of it. Although the rest of the months I didn't use any makeup, followed the instructions thorougly but still was extremly dry, got 80% more pimples and had in general an awful time.
The following 2-3 months however has been a steady improvement with some good results. I'm not as dry anymore, I didn't get the same deep pimples I'm used to (only smaller ones every now and then) and my old scarring and pigmentation was starting to heal. Now the last month and a half I'm slowly getting more pimples back and thus more pigmentations and marks. My skin is still relatively dry for reasons unknown and along my jawline, chin and cheeks I have gotten 7 big and inflamed pimples the past 2 weeks which is tearing on my patience and self esteem.
So my question is as follows; How long will it actually be until my skin gets really accustom to the regimen(aka doesnt dry up all the time) and how long until I'm finally ridd of all my acne or will it just never go away? Also im not talking about smaller pimples here and there, I'm more concerend about deep and really big pimples that leave dark marks and scarring on the skin.
I've tried searching the forum but mostly everybody seems to be healed after 3-4months. Also I have tried using less BP, more BP, less AHA, more AHA etc but the dryness doesn't really give in. Right now I have settled for using a bit less BP but otherwise follow the instructions as given. I understand that this might just be a setback in the process but it feels very saddening that it works for most people after up to 4months yet I'm going onto month 6 with a huge set back.
Would love some positive response/feedback/critique or tips in general!
Hey there. What dose did you use when you used accutane? Maybe lowering the dose can give better results in general. To get red of the dryness rub a half tomato on your spots/face for 2-3 minutes and let it be there for a good 10-15 minutes. After that open an aloe vera stick and gently rub it on your face. Aloe vera gel will help you to get rid of the dryness and also heal your skin in general! Try that for one week and if you see improvements, good, otherweise you can try vaseline! Either of them should be working and heal your condition sooner than normal.
These are pretty effective and cheap methods, the best part is they have no side effects.
It took me around 8-9 months to be completely clear and I would say like you I had moderate/mildly severe I've never had loads of cysts like you either. I wore make up through most of the regimen but did start to just wear concealer on the spots. I also never ramped up the dosage and I used a pea size amount the hole time I didn't moisturise at night either only in the morning. I had a lot and mean a lot of red marks that completely cleared up along with the spots I felt like giving up a lot but i stuck to it I got to the point I only wore make up on nights out/occasions. Then I ran out of BP and due to being completely clear I didn't order any more 6 months maybe more I stayed fully clear.. now it's coming back slowly so im
back on the regimen
